That said, it wouldn't hurt to try a portable installation. All of the installers are linked in the first post.

Thank you, might just give it a try. A little leery as it's taken me almost 8 months to get all things right.

Do I need to change back to the default skin first? Using EstuaryMOD

You can use any skin. Try going portable.

Maybe the proboscis is getting too large, or it's my eyes, but I can't find the portable version to download.

The search box is your friend ....

Ok, got it running, but exactly what do I copy over so that when it runs (I DID copy over userdata) it boots like what I have installed?

Did I tell you search is your best friend?

Copied over to the wrong place. Searching, but I'd like all audio to passthrough - don't see an easy way to do that.

Also if everything is kept in one folder (I like this), can I simply change folder names and all ow it to continue to work?

You shouldn't have to copy over anything if you overwrite an older installation. If portable, copy over the userdata. And there is no portable installation. Any version of Kodi can be installed as a portable installation.

its the same installer, you just install it in a folder somewhere, then when installed create a shortcut to the kodi executable but put add -p to it, like this:

"X\KODI\kodi.exe" -p

Its this -p switch that makes it portable. Its loads better using kodi like this as full backups are much easier.

Essentially this -p switch tells KODI to store the userdata locally in this folder instead of in your profile, here is the location:

X:\KODI\portable_data\userdata

It was older but not portable - didn't read about that when I installed a LONG time ago, I like the idea though.

Yeah as I was perusing the thread and other threads, I literally stumbled onto the small problem I was having - I didn't copy over into portable_data, I just copied over. So blew off the directory and reinstalled and copied INTO the RIGHT subdirectory - all is well know, kinda.

I'll work on madVR later, but how do I set this to passthrough ALL audio? I have the ac3filter decode and send out AAC in AC3 format that my receiver can decode. It can decode all others by itself. This seems to passthrough everything, but the ac3filter isn't seeing the output from a AAC.

Are all these filters internal?

Set to use internal filters and configure LAV Audio by checking all supported formats. No need for AC3filter.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Shogunreaper - 2017-07-10

when using xysubfilter it seems that it won't display accented letters like ō. (it's just an empty space in its place)

though they look fine in aegisub and notepad

how do i fix this?

Set to use internal filters and configure LAV Audio by checking all supported formats. No need for AC3filter.

Let's start again. I did not have AAC unchecked in formats for LAV to decode (it doesn't), so un-checking that and now AC3filter takes it.

No if I can just figure out why all the back are being seen by the HK as side-channels, and silent, I'll be REALLY happy.

THAT YOU!!!!! for the help. Sometimes I ask questions before I just stop and LOOK.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - MKANET - 2017-07-11

I've been using kodi-17.3-Krypton-x64 for a while now without any issues. Since yesterday, every time I start video playback in fullscreen Kodi crashes, even if I select DX9 instead of madVR. The only way I can prevent Kodi from crashing if i disable DSPlayer as the default player for Kodi.

I don't have any issues with MPC-HC using madVR. I have the latest madVR installed. Kodi seems to crash before any useful information can be written to the log file. Whats the quickest way to see repair this issue without having to install and configure dozens of Kodi addons from scratch, and Skin related customizations and settings?

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

I don't understand what's the use of AC3 filter for you. If you have LAV Audio decode AAC to PCM sound you should be all set. Unless you are talking about 5.1 AAC files that you want transcoded to 5.1 AC3 (in that case you need either AC3filter or Reclock as sound renderer).

Regarding the channel layout, check LAV Audio configuration. There's a couple of settings there that might help, namely "Convert Output to Standard Channel Layouts" and/or "Use Legacy 5.1 channel layout".

Edit: btw, if you configure DSPlayer correctly, you should be able to manage AC3filter being loaded only when needed (ie. for 5.1 AAC files). Read about it here: http://kodi.wiki/view/Playercorefactory.xml and use "audiocodec" and "audiochannels" as metadata attributes to check against.

I did not have the same exact problem but a similar one. In my case changing antivirus solved it.

Hi Ashlar, thanks for your help. I actually don't have any real-time antivirus protection to avoid issues like this for both DSPlayer and gaming. Windows 10 Defender is completely disabled.

What's the next step in trouble shooting? Thanks again for any help to resolve this issue!

Again thank you for time.

Let me try to clarify, at this point, I do not want ANY decoder to decode anything BUT AAC. That is the only format that my receiver can not decode, this is why I use ac3filter, it decodes AAC to AC3 and outputs it to the receiver. Same layout only something it can decode. I could decode it and send it out, but I prefer to have a little S/W in between.

Now I understand, from reading (something I do on occasion Rofl) that LAV WILL decode it and send it along, but I can not get it to do so. BUT if there is a way to LAV do as you say it can, would you tell me how?

I have finally gotten the receiver to output the rear channels (too low an output), so I'm closer.

Is there a way to have both (not at the same time) LAV's and madVR's console pop up over the video playback so I can see what's what while the video is playing?

Again thank you.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - mv-- - 2017-07-13

Hi all!

My first post and best regards to everyone working on Kodi and DSPlayer! Best HTPC solution.

--

A question regarding DSPlayer 17.x versions and BDMV - is it supposed to work as is or something should be configured first?

I have a bunch of movies in BDMV structures (scrapper does find them correctly) and when trying to play them with a right click and selecting play main title from the context menu nothing happens.
m2ts files from BDMV stream directory are played correctly when selecting them directly from file browser.

Same behaviour with Kodi DSPlayer x86/x64 17.X versions on Win 8.1 laptop and Win10 CU HTPC. madVR/EVR and DSPlayer options seem to have no effect.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - invad3r - 2017-07-13

@mv--
I think this can be solved by changing the default action for playing blurays within Kodi the menu somewhere. It should be something like 'play main movie'. I used to have this problem as well.
