RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Stonedofmoo - 2017-12-28

Hi there

The refresh rate matching, do I do that in Kodi as that is enabled already, or in the madvr settings itself? Any tips?

Display scaling is an interesting one, almost certainly is the answer. Why?

Disable screen display scaling in windows on your tv for one.  Kodi is not very aware of display scaling.  It's better than it used to be, but it's not there yet, especially with the dsplayer builds.

Next, you can use kodi's built in refresh rate matching or in madvr settings.  (easiest to do is where ever you have put madvr, run madHcCtrol.exe)   You can find all the madVR settings in that and change what you need in there.  Including refresh rate switching.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - slappy - 2017-12-29

Hi, I have a movie with 2 video streams inside the same MKV file (2D-2160p stream1 and 3D-MVC-1080p stream2) the same way we Remux Audio tracks and subtitles.
With kodi regular branch i can switch the video track on the go from the settings but with the DSPLAYER branch the Stream option is greyout.
Someone have any idea if the multi video stream are supported in the DSPLAYER branch ?
Also looking for the keyboard shortcut option to toggle videotrack (doenst find any also on the regular kodi branch...).
Really love kodi DSPLAYER using it with a GTX-1080TI with proper tweaking the PQ is amazing !
Thanks

Steve

Quite weird really. I'd really like to know if DX9 or DX11 is the better mode; my Geforce 1030 will support either happily.
Also does this MadVR change the refresh rate of the TV to match the source material? I cannot tell if that is happening.

You have a 1030? I am considering upgrading to this card, can you tell me if you can enable 10 bpc in Nvidia control panel with that card. I searched the whole google without answers. It's the only thing holding me down from buying one.

Have been looking for the past few weeks for something that allows me to use a simulated "matrix" mode for stereo sources to output as 5.1. Low and behold I found this and am currently struggling to get it to work perfectly. Anyways, I have a Asus Xonar U5 USB external sound card along with a set of Logitech z506 speakers. Normal 5.1 films sound perfect however I would like to have a virtual surround sound for the stereo sources I play (Twitch.tv + Plex).

Currently I'm using LAV and the latest 32bit version of kodi with dsplayer.

So from the last image you can see that whilst it detects that it is being sent out as 6 channel it's only giving me left and right audio with zero input for the other channels..

Any help here, please?

Hi fella

Can confirm it can do 10 or 12bit at 4:2:2 mode. I run mine at RGB Full 8bit.
However having carried out tests with HDR mode I suspect 2Gb RAM is not really enough

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Stonedofmoo - 2017-12-30

Hi guys

For those running 4K HDR rips with DSPlayer, what hardware do you have?
I have a Pentium G3420 @ 3.2Ghz and a Geforce 1030 2Gb card. The video's play but it's stuttering constantly. CPU seems to be maxed out which is odd as I thought in DXVA2 mode the graphics card took care of the decoding.
I also notice the GPU VRAM runs up to 1934Mb which to me sounds like the VRAM is maxed out?

Can anyone running 4K HDR rips without performance issues let me know what hardware you run. I'm particularly interested in the VRAM issue as the 1030 is billed as the perfect HTPC card.

Unless I'm mistaken, the Mixing panel only works for downmixing, not upmixing, in LAVfilters.

Perhaps you could suggest another method of which I could achieve this simulated 5.1 surround throughout stereo sources? I recently had found the Audio DSP add-on which had the "free-surround" option that was perfect but is very unstable and wouldn't allow for a video to be forward seeked or it would crash when selecting another video. Quite a pity, really.

Purchasing a receiver, to my current knowledge, isn't an option due to the PC speakers I use.

If you add FFDSHOW Audio as an extra filter, it offers upmixing. Not as the audio decoder, you keep on using LAVfilters for that, just as an extra audio processing filter.

Check this post: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=516729&show=660#msg22343305

In any case, it's strange because it looks like LAVfilters should upmix but in my tests I wasn't able to have it work that way. It's not something I'm interested in, as I do have the PC connected to an AVR capable of upmixing with a variety of algorithms but still, I'd like to get to the bottom of this. I'll try asking nevcariel.

Playing a 4K HDR movie rip on my Intel 7700K/16 GB RAM/GTX1080 setup hooked to a LG OLED TV, I get the following:
System CPU usage: 5-10%
Memory used: abt. 1 GB RAM
GPU Load: 15-50%
Using DXVA2 (copy back) and the recommended 385.69 Nvidia drivers.
So yeah, hardware decoding is working as intended.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Stonedofmoo - 2017-12-31

I changed the settings to DXVA2 copy back last night and immediately everything improved and is basically smooth. This is odd as reading the notes suggested this mode would be slower.
The vRAM is still peaking at 1936Mb. I suspect it would use more than 2Gb if I had more.

Boingman, would you mind running a test for me? Could you run GPU-Z and go to the sensors tab, and then go play a HDR movie. Just play one for a minute or so then exit straight out of Kodi and go see how much vRAM your GTX 1080 was using while the video was playing. This will tell me how much vRAM is optimally required.

I suppose you could lower vRAM requirements by lowering the GPU queue size. Maybe you won't need it, since you say everything is smooth now, but keep it in mind.

At least 2200-2500 MB of VRAM for 4K HDR, 900 MB for 1080p SDR.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - axbmcuser - 2018-01-02

Quick question:

Is there ANY configuration for KODI DSPlayer which makes it possible for KODIs internal "Volume Aplification" slider to work?

I know there are external filter replacements for DRC, but i'm interested to know if it`s possible for KODIs internal amplifcation to function.

Thank you Smile
