Doesn't anyone knows why this may be? I mean the videos wasn't playing but there was a green screen flickering every other second.. Any assistance would be appreciated thank you.. I was using NGU high setting.. Same settings with the RX560 4GB I don't have any flickering issues but with the 1050ti it seems to be processing faster....

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-18

things seem to be pretty stable now as regards to kodi going to a box on the screen. fingers crossed.

things look much better with profiles especially 720 material. looks like i have a lot of corrupted files though (last burner was dying when i done them) so looks like i'll be digging the discs out again :-(

the dvd's that do work are showing days for repeated frames and flickering to no dropped frames.

bluray are around 4-5min and the occasional repeated frames, same goes for 4k.

HDR is switching in and out no problem.

for some strange reason the sound codec is not returning on the amp after stop on the player and remains for a good 5min or until i start to play another movie.
i have the amp set for stereo without anything playing but when it receives a signal such as DD-HD etc.etc it stays there then after about 5min it drops to stereo again or when i browse kodi or start another movie.

its still taking a good 5seconds for the player returning to kodi after stop when playing 4k and HD but pretty instant for SD.

next step is to set the 'display modes -> custom modes' but i'm still a bit confused as to how its done. i had a little play last night but never had the time to let a movie play for 1/2hr.
i'll investigate more with it tonight.

i found the problem with kodi not shutting down when you press exit etc.etc. this sometimes happens along with a 'path' box popping up when browsing for movies in kodi.
the culprit is networking. looks like kodi does not like it when you turn off the LAN card if you have HomeGroup enabled. my solution was to 'barr' internet access which is set a static address and no dns.
i also turned off 'get files from other computers on your network' for windows updates as i domt want anything updating when everything is configured.

i have my responsiveness back in windows. i turned off 'send problems' in the nvidia config. this helped a loooot but then i went one stage further and stopped the config app starting with windows and bam... windows is a loooot faster. if i need the config app then i can always start it from the start menu.

i also applied my 'startup' reg tweaks to start kodi when windows starts.

For custom modes, read my tutorial. There is a link to a guide written by madshi.

Thank you Smile

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-19

finally got to grips with custom modes.

it was a bit confusing at first but a few tries later and it all became clear. you need to set the mode, test, apply the result you want then test again to set the result. this takes a looooong time to do.

messed up a good few times and i discovered that if you just delete the profile your working with a new fresh one pops up like magic.. lol

Could you be so kind as to expand on the above? What do you mean you "barred" internet access? On what did you apply this? How? Why?

Also, what's the "send problems" in the nvidia config you're mentioning? What's the "config app" you're referring to? Nvidia Experience?
Thanks in advance.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-19

i'll try my best to expand on things.

first off the nvidia icon/shortcut in the taskbar to the nvidia application that allows you to change the settings. this does not need to be launched at startup, its only a gui for users to have quick access to the settings.

no not nvidia experience as i have not installed that but even so nvidia have also put a 'call back' that reports problem and IIR is hidden in the help tab at the top of the page on the taskbar icon/shortcut. it must be constantly trying to do an ET.. lol

now onto the networking. i have set a static ip address with no DNS. this allows network access for homegroup but no internet access. i use homegroup to map network drives so i can rip from the upstairs computer to the HTPC downstairs. think of it as a very basic NAS without the expense.
i dont want internet access to the HTPC as i dont want updates destroying my setup. now this is where microsoft get sneaky, they now use other computers on a connected network to 'share' updates so you have to turn that off as well.
...........................

i made more progress last night regarding setting custom profiles but could not get it to work properly. i have discovered that the 23hz profile is not communicating with the nvidia drivers properly e.g. the 23hz profile in madvr is showing up as 24hz profile in the nvidia app. i only discovered this at the very end of the night so will be doing more investigation tonight but my sneaky suspicion is that if i set madvr 'switch to' to 24hz instead of 23hz it will use the custom profile set in nvidia which is mistakenly named then i'm hoping that it will use that profile but actually be 23hz.

Hi guys!

I've been using Kodi (DSPlayer) for a very long time and really appreciate the hard work being done by the developers. Having Kodi with MadVR + LAV is just plain awesome.

QUESTION #1

However, I have run into a bug that only started occurring after I swapped my Marantz SR 5009 receiver for a B&W Panorama 2 soundbar. It seems that when I bitstream Dolby Digital (Plus) the audio delay is not applied. If I choose to transcode Dolby into LPCM the audio delay works as expected. This also happens with DTS, although only if I switch audio tracks. If the DTS track was selected when starting the video it works.

The built-in VideoPlayer does not show these issues.

I noticed the changelog for the latest build mentions fixing an issue related to just this what I described, but it's that version that I'm currently using. I also tried the 32-bit version and older versions up to 17.2, but they all have this issue.

QUESTION #2

My B&W Soundbar unfortunately does not support transcoding DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD, but apparently also does not support multi-channel LPCM (only stereo). I have contacted B&W about this issue, but have gotten no reply yet. Can someone tell me what is theoretically better: bitstream Dolby Digital Plus (640kbps) or downmix Dolby TrueHD into LPCM 2.0 with Dolby Pro Logic II encoding?

Thanks!

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Bibio - 2018-03-19

i forgot to explain what is happening in kodi-dsplayer when you disable the lan card.

if i setup kodi with the lan card enabled and grant internet access to download add-ons everything is fine and dandy even if i disable the lan card.

problems arise when i leave the lan card on with internet access then install media. i dont use online scrapers and instead use local information only to which all my media is correctly ordered in a folder tree.
after kodi has built the library and i turn off the lan card is when kodi throws a wobbly. if i try and brows from the home bar to say movies then kodi throws a box saying 'cant find path.xml' or words to that effect.
also when the lan card is disabled kodi will hang if i try and shut it down or exit.

my solution is to setup kodi add the add-ons i need then turn the lan off or disable internet access only via static ip addy and no dns.
i then add my media with the scraper as local information only.
doing the above works perfect even if i enable/disable lan card or dns later on.

Hard to tell what is going on. You could try another audio renderer like ReClock. Remember, it is only 32-bit. This would most likely be something to do with Sanear. The default audio renderer might also work. Although, it is not WASAPI exclusive. But that isn't important when using a soundbar.

For the second question, bitstreaming would be preferred. But use whatever works. You would have one less conversion, which is the better scenario.

what for? Kodi 18 is alpha1 only. I don't see a reason to waste time to trying adapt DS code base for v18 now
Kodi 18 still seems to be very stable to me and its available for over one year right now. And it has features i wont miss. I think it shorts wait time till the Final version comes out.

not sure i'd agree, I think they'd be silly to release it without full HDR support which seems a way off to me, otherwise its just an incremental upgrade and nothing really to get excited about.

Ok, now I understand. On Win 10 x64 I don't have anything by Nvidia on the taskbar. If I want to access the control panel I need to right click on the desktop and select "Nvidia Control Panel". Furthermore I've used this to disable all telemetry: https://github.com/NateShoffner/Disable-Nvidia-Telemetry. Explanation here: https://www.ghacks.net/2016/11/07/nvidia-telemetry-tracking/

As far as networking is concerned, I would not want to miss internet connection, for weather, news, scraping. I understand what you do, and thanks for explaining, but I guess it's not my cup of tea, as they say. Smile

 thanks for the link :-)
.................................

has anyone updated the LAV filters to the new February ones?

if so how do you manually update them? is it just a case of unpacking them to the dsplayer directory or the kodi?

or would i be better going online and updating from within kodi interface?

Replace the ones in the DSPlayer directory. What new feature do you need?
