RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - kalebroc - 2018-08-10 Hi guys, I'm hoping somebody has come across this issue before and has a solution for it - I'm using a PC (Intel Core i3-7100, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GTX 1050Ti 4GB, Windows 10 x64) as my main media player with Kodi DSPlayer & MadVR on it. The issue I have is stuttering video playback, it is mainly only when there is a panning camera view in the video files, it effects all of the movies I have and from what reading I've done so far it seems to be related to the refresh rate and 24p mode. I have tried everything, from settings in MadVR to settings in Nvidia control panel and still it remains, it is very slight but noticeable. In order to make sure it was nothing to do with my Panasonic 65" 4K TV or Denon A/V receiver I have tested a little AMlogic S912 box running the latest Libreelec and hey presto absolutely perfect - every movie I play on this little box, be it 1080p or 4K HDR, plays without a glitch and really really smooth playback. Return to my PC and the same files start stuttering and so on. This is on a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64 with the latest Nvidia drivers and latest MadVR, this PC is only used for Kodi so has nothing else running on it, I'm at my wits end at the moment and don't really want to use the AMlogic box as my main media player, I just find the PC boots and responds a lot better, I would really appreciate if someone could give me a helping hand . Thanks guys. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - ashlar - 2018-08-10 kalebroc, post a debug log. Instructions in my signature. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - toki5 - 2018-08-11 and now I have nad to reinstall my OS and now I can't get audio out of kodi when I play videos. I don't know what I've done to make this happen. I'm getting audio out of everything else. I save all of my settings from appdata and put them back when I reinstall programs so it should just be what it was before reinstall. I don't know wht the problem is. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-08-11 (2018-08-10, 11:27)kalebroc Wrote: Hi guys,Can you run the 24p judder tests (folder #7) from this link and report back if your display passess? https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1m4IBq0euAxamL9ePgfdFuf8_5nLcRwHA Does the file play smoother at 60 Hz? Your madVR settings could be too aggressive, causing some spikes at certain points throughout the movie. It could also be an issue with Windows media players, in general. A debug log might show some errors during playback, but I don't know. Might be unlikely. You need to make sure both 23p and 24p are listed under display modes (especially 23p). A custom resolution could also be helpful if the 23.976 refresh rate is way off, but I don't think that would cause consistent judder. Another thought is that you should avoid using the TV's PC mode if you are using it. I don't know wht the problem is.You probably have to reselect your audio device in both Kodi and DSPlayer. If that doesn't work, try selecting a different audio device, play something and then switch back. You also have to rerun the Windows sound configuration wizard after a driver reinstall. For your audio issue related to 2.1 output, did you only select the formats your display supports in LAV Audio? If you already tried that, you could experiment with the "Enable Mixing" feature in LAV Audio under the "Mixing" tab and set the output to stereo. There should be an update to HDR -> SDR shortly. It will improve the overall color accuracy, but issues with compression and a dark image with some displays will remain. I now understand this is related to the current tone mapping curve (BT.2390). Improvements with tone curves probably won't come for a couple of months. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - kalebroc - 2018-08-11 ashlar Warner306 Hi guys, thanks for the responses, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, was away from home last night. So, after thinking about it for a while I got up early this morning to try a couple of things - first I replaced the Nvidia card with a simple AMD R5 230 just to test - worked perfectly, smooth full 1080p 24p playback. So, after cleaning up the video card drivers I put back in the Nvidia card, new driver install and back to stutter video playback again, I made sure that MadVR had the display modes setup and Kodi DSPlayer was definitely switching the TV into the right refresh rate etc. So, I reverted the Nvidia drivers back to an older version, no joy. Re-Installed the latest version and then went into the Nvidia control panel and changed the following setting - Vertical Sync from "Use The 3D application settings" to the following "Fast" - hey presto, I now have proper 24p smooth video playback. Hopefully this might help somebody else, and thanks again for the responses and help, as usual this forum has come to the rescue. On a side note, I have an AMD RX560 4GB Video card coming during the week, I've been thinking about going to AMD for awhile now and the last few days have confirmed my reasoning, hopefully then once the Libreelec version for Kodi has got 4K HDR support it should smooth the transition from Windows, fingers crossed that will happen soon, nothing against Windows and so on, the Linux Libreelec setup seems to be more robust and a bit quicker. Thanks again to everybody, I'm off to wipe my PC and perform a clean install of Windows 10 and everything else so I can get back to watching some movies for the weekend. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - toki5 - 2018-08-11 thanks for the reply. It was setting the sound again in kodi. It was shown as internal and I had to switch it to sanear again. HDR is very restrictive, so it might not be easy. I would expect LibreELEC to get support before Windows, if it is possible. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - djcorvus - 2018-08-12 (2017-02-16, 17:18)ryu87 Wrote: Hi. First of all, thank you for this great build, that solved a huge problem I had with the regular Kodi player.Hey guys, I'm having the exact same problem as ryu87 did. My HTPC is connected to my LG TV and then that's connected via HDMI ARC to my Pioneer receiver. Previously, when playing TrueHD files, the receiver just played the audio track in 5.1 Dolby Digital (as it does not support TrueHD). Kodi is set to use 'best match' and 'allow bitstreaming' under audio settings, however I'm sure that doesn't matter now since I'm using DSplayer. In DSplayer settings, I've got everything set to bitstream, except for TrueHD and DTS-HD, as my receiver doesn't support either. When selecting both of those, files with either of those formats are only played in stereo. I've tried downloading AC3filter and setting it as an external filter in DSplayer. In the AC3filter config, I've ticked 'use SPDIF' in both the 'main' and 'SPDIF' tabs and made sure that 'TrueHD' is selected in the 'Use AC3 filter for:' section in the 'system' tab, however I cannot get this to work. In fact, it's worse when I choose AC3filter because now ALL audio tracks are just output as stereo. Can somebody tell me how I can get TrueHD audio tracks to output via bitstream to my receiver so they can be played in Dolby Digital? RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-08-12 (2018-08-12, 15:55)djcorvus Wrote:You need a filter to convert TrueHD to Dolby Digital. There is no DD core in TrueHD. If you uncheck the bitstream option, it is sent a multichannel PCM. I would think that AC3Filter might do the job, but it might not. Did you add it as an extra filter in DSPlayer and assign it as an audio filter? LAV Filters has mixing options for PCM sources that could be worth trying. It would make more sense to preserve the Dolby Digital track with the rip and select it.(2017-02-16, 17:18)ryu87 Wrote:Hey guys, I'm having the exact same problem as ryu87 did. Like I said, previously under regular Kodi, I just enabled bitstreaming everything, and kodi (which was set to 'best match' in the audio settings) sent everything to my receiver, which then recognized it as either Dolby Digital or DTS depending on the file. No additional configuration necessary.(2018-08-12, 15:55)djcorvus Wrote:You need a filter to convert TrueHD to Dolby Digital. There is no DD core in TrueHD. Didn't do anything. In fact it made things worse because now it sends EVERYTHING as PCM and therefore my receiver plays it as stereo. I don't rip my own files, so I don't have the luxury of preserving anything. If I play something that only has a TrueHD audio track, then I'm doomed to listen to it in stereo. Surely it can't be that hard to get it to downmix TrueHD to DD and have it bitstreamed to my receiver? Regular Kodi was doing this flawlessly over bitstream, so I know it's at least possible. RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2018-08-13 It has to be converted to Dolby Digital. TrueHD is a completely different compression codec/wrapper. It would have to be converted to multichannel PCM and then converted into DD. Some compression is involved. DTS-HD has a DTS core for backwards compatibility, but TrueHD does not. I’ll do a search tomorrow for a filter that could do the job. Sanear doesn’t have this capability. FFDShow could do it, but it is old. Did you check to see if Kodi is simply selecting an alternate DD track when TrueHD is encountered? I don't care how, I just want the same thing to happen. Stereo sucks. Matrix encoding might convert to DD. Otherwise, it won't do anything. ffdshow: https://www.google.ca/search?q=ffdshow+audio&rlz=1C2GGGE_enCA731CA731&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi-6fD_p-rcAhXE6J8KHX7aA-IQ_AUICygC&biw=1280&bih=584#imgrc=Y3GFnFINKYacZM: Download ffdshow (there is an x64 version out there if the linked installer doesn't include it), add as an extra filter in DSPlayer and set as an audio filter. Edit: ReClock can also do this, but it is only 32-bit. You would have to install the 32-bit version of DSPlayer. I would also attempt to stop collecting rips that don't have the original DD track on it. You are losing audio quality by having to do this conversion. Connecting directly to the AVR would also help matters and give you even better sound. Re: LAV audio mixing - AFAIK, Pro Logic will not give me 'true' 5.1 channels. This is unacceptable, so I'm not even going to bother with this route. Re: ffdshow - Won't this option make it decode ALL audio, even DD tracks? If so, this is also unacceptable. This is getting completely ridiculous. Why was Kodi able to bitstream everything to my receiver and downmix TrueHD to it as DD? It worked so flawlessly before. Why can't it work now? |
