Basically i want to dump as much of the video to RAM as possible.

Is this because MADvr doesn't respect the cache or has its own cache settings? If so where could I find those?
You need to use LAVfilter Source cache setting. See this discussion on Doom9 where kind people explained how to do it.
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=156191&page=1174

Bear in mind that you will need to use Nightlies, as Nevcariel fixed a bug in them, as explained on that page (and there hasn't been a stable release since).

Hi.

I'm having an issue with playback start using Kodi DSPlayer 16.1.

When starting live-tv or YouTube videoes, the player will sometimes show black screen, with the audio playing without issues.

To solve this I have to toggle back and forth between channels or youtube videoes one or more times.

Only happens every now and then, at other times there's no issue.

Any solution?

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Warner306 - 2019-08-26

Use VideoPlayer for streaming content or try updating to DSPlayer 17.6.

Instructions on how to use VideoPlayer for streaming content are included in the DSPlayer guide linked at the top of the first post.

VideoPlayer might be called "DVDPlayer" in Jarvis. I can't remember.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - Vanguard88 - 2019-08-26

I'd rather not use VideoPlayer.

I'm using 16.1 for the support of DVBViewer.

Perhaps there's some setting in the madvr configuration that could be causing this?

Can I install DSPlayer on the latest versions of Kodi?

I can't think of any offhand besides enabling or disabling fullscreen exclusive mode.

No, it's only available as a v17.6 build.

RE: Kodi DSPlayer – DirectShow Player for Windows - rootz - 2019-08-29

I'm having this weird slight stuttering problem which is especially apparent during camera movement. It is not constant but happens every few seconds here and there.

I've setup MadVR according to Warner306's excellent guide. I don't have frames dropped or repeated (except in rare cases a few frames might drop/repeat after skipping forward/backwards) and queues are full with average stats around 23-28 ms.
I've even increased the queues to CPU 24 / GPU 16 hoping this might help.

I've tested both 4k MKV's (with working HDR passthrough) and normal 8-bit colour 1080p MKV's.

When played with MPC BE x64 both 4k and 1080p videos are very smooth and I can't see any to almost no stutter.
When played with Kodi Dsplayer 17.6 x86 version I see some slight stutter occasionally. The playback is not as smooth as it is with MPC BE. I see no difference in MadVR stats.
When played with MediaPortal 1.22 the stutter problem is the worst. It's not constant but happens every few seconds a very slight lag in video playback before it returns to normal.

I've tried diagnosing this by fiddling around with MadVR settings but because MPC-BE works very well while Kodi DSplayer has a slight stuttering problem and MediaPortal being the worst, I'm thinking the problem has to do with Kodi DSplayer and MediaPortal. Any ideas how to fix this?

If I can't fix this I might just use MPC-BE as an external player in MediaPortal but I'd rather have Kodi or MediaPortal working so I can utilize the OSD in them which is much better than in MPC-BE.

My PC:
Intel core i5-9600k
AMD Radeon RX 5700 xt (latest drivers 19.8.2)
16 gb ddr4 ram

MadVR version v0.92.17
Here is a link to MadVR stats when a 4k HDR video is played in Kodi DS player. Stats after around 30 seconds of video play: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q92jacq7cfjbfyh/madvr%20stats%2029082019.jpg?dl=0

Have you tried updated the lavfilters in the /kodi/system/players/dsplayer/lavfilters to newer ones?

Yes! I forgot to mention this. I've updated them to version LAVFilters-0.74.1-x86.

Is the mouse active during playback or any game controllers connected? The only difference between DSPlayer and MPC-BE are the OSD elements, which can be triggered in various ways. The OSD will cause video playback to stutter.

Maybe it's an add-on in the background? Are you using Sanear (the internal DSPlayer audio renderer) for audio rendering? Did you choose D3D11 Native hardware decoding for video decoding purposes in LAV Video? Are there any active subtitles during playback?

Thanks, great checklist! I made quite a bit of diagnosing based on them!  I also captured some video to demonstrate the stutter. These are linked below.

Here's some answers based on your suggestions and what I did based on them.

I have a wireless mouse + keyboard combo connected by USB to the PC but I'm not using/moving the mouse during playback in Kodi / Mediaportal. I also have a Xbox One wireless controller adapter connected by USB but the controller is turned off when using Kodi/Mediaportal. I use MCE IR-remote to control Kodi/Mediaportal/MPC-BE. (A Logitech Harmony remote and an official MS MCE USB IR-receiver). -> I tried unplugging all USB devices except MCE remote. I saw now difference in the stutter problem. Then I plugged all the USB devices back and then unplugged MCE remote IR. This made no difference either.

Yes, I read earlier from the MadVR/Dsplayer guides that OSD's causes stutter. However this stutter happens when OSD is not visible. I'm using Sanear audio renderer as per the DSplayer guide. I have subtitles enabled in Kodi and MPC-BE. I use Xysubfilter in Kodi and MPC-BE configured according to the guide here.

As for Kodi addons, I'm using Titan skin, Trakt, extended info, MCEremote etc. Basically only addons from Kodi official repo. I made a clean install with Kodi DSplayer deleting all settings from previous normal Kodi installations. I've only added addons related to Titan skin (Trakt, fanart handling etc.) and MCEremote addon with which you can map keyboard keys to MCE remote buttons.

I was using DXVA2 Copyback in Lav filters for hardware decoding but changed it now to D3D11. I don't see any difference with this change in the stutter problem.

I was using NGU Sharp in MadVR for image upscaling and changed it now to Jinc. My initial impression is that it might have very slightly reduced some stutter.

I found a perfect scene to demonstrate this stuttering problem in the movie Aliens. I ran through it several dozen times both in Kodi and MPC-BE first swapping between DXVA2 Copyback and D3D11 and in MadVR upscaling NGU Sharp / Jinc and the unpluggin USB devices etc. I found out that MPC-BE also occasionally has this stutter problem but it is less frequent and not nearly as bad as in Kodi.

The stutter problem doesn't happen always. It varies both in MPC-BE and Kodi. In Kodi it is worse. But occasionally MPC-BE playback stutters quite a bit as well.

Here are links to the videos I captured to demonstrate this stuttering (approx 30MB per video):   (sorry for the reflections from the screen)

My Aliens rip is a HEVC encode with DD5.1 audio bitstreamed to my Denon AVR.

I don't know if this matters considering this problem but I run a dual HDMI setup in Win10 with the second screen as an extended desktop. From Radeon GPU a HDMI cable to TV and a second HDMI with a Displayport adapter to AVR to bitstream HD-audio. I was unable to get HDR passthrough working by having a single HDMI to AVR and from there to TV.

Sorry about this long post. I'm glad if you had the enegy to read through it. Hopefully a fix can be found!

no idea whats going on with this website but when I tried to quote and reply it blanks out what ive written.

Personally I think its the complexity of your setup, drop back to one monitor / HDMI and see if it clears up

That is pretty horrendous stutter. Try disconnecting the DisplayPort adapter from the PC in case that has something to do with it. Also, try using the default Kodi skin instead of Titan to see if that makes any difference.
