if you want/need to play compatible 4k files, sideload either Jarvis beta or nightly. if not, for the moment stay with Isengard from Play Store.

I am now the proud owner of a Sony 49X8308C and I have installed Kodi on it. I really love it, I can get rid of my htpc. Load is only about 31% on my 40 MB/s Samsung 4K demo video and about 47% on the LG 116 MB/s demo (Istanbul).

However I have noticed two reproducible bugs in Kodi 16 (nightly).

1) Distorted (green) playback on 3840x2160 x264 playback at specific times in a video. Photo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbzrfsqyxkweoc0/2015-11-28%2000.02.34.jpg?dl=0 . Only happens at a few specific intervals.
2) Black screen when playing 4096x2160 59 fps video. Only sound. When I play the same video with Kodi 15.x on My Surface Pro 2 with Windows 8.1 connected on HDMI1 (3840x2160 24 hz) the video does show.

If I need to send someone some logs then feel free to pm me.

ARM or x86 for Arvis?

For 1, check the type of file, if the video is 24fps that has duplicated frames to 30 fps it will do this on some platforms, It doesn't do it on my Surface Pro 2 but does do it on my ZOTAC BI320 running windows.

For 2, resolutions above 3840x2160 are not supported on the Sony TVs except via one of the HDMI inputs. This is a limitation of the TV itself.

RE: KODI on Sony Bravia Smart TVs (2015) based on Android TV - maniii - 2015-12-07

Has anyone here got a Sonos Playbar to work on a Bravia TV using passthrough audio?

I used it in my old setup (Samsung TV, cuBox i) and it worked fine. On the Sony (75X9105C) I just get loud noise out of the Sonos speakers (according to sonos app it is receiving either no or an unsupported signal).
It doesn't matter what setting i choose in Android TV audio settings (Mode 1 or 2). Currently i'm running the stable release from PlayStore, but I also tried 16 beta - didn't work either.

Am I missing something or is this a known bug?

Would be great to get this to work cause everything else works so flawlessly on the Bravia...

Look at TV sound options and select something like external sound system

RE: KODI on Sony Bravia Smart TVs (2015) based on Android TV - maniii - 2015-12-07

already did that, it's working in stereo mode, but not using passthrough audio (DD 5.1), that's the problem :-(

RE: KODI on Sony Bravia Smart TVs (2015) based on Android TV - maniii - 2015-12-07

If this helps on determining the problem: passthrough using HDMI-ARC works fine.

I just built a workaround using the Octava HD41-ARC which was laying around from my previous setup - just connected the HDMI-ARC port of the sony and the optical of the Sonos playbar to the Octava switch and it works fine.
Now i get full DD 5.1 out of kodi using passthrough. But i think that additional piece of hardware should not be neccessary...

Thanks.

About 1: I checked and the video is 29.97 fps. When OHV get's their act together you can download it here (I noticed it is currently doing 50 KB/s instead of 100mbit).

About 2: Is there something I can do to get Kodi to display the video at 3840x2160? It can show higher resolution photo's (e.g. 13 MP) so I guess it should also be able to do video, right?

(2015-10-05, 08:27)Hannes The Hun Wrote: picture settings actually means display settings, you can see this when the display switches modes e.g. when you start the Netflix app - this does not have any implications in decoding performance. it would be interesting though to know which flag an app needs to have in order to be recognized by Android TV as a "video" app, and if it would make sense to implement this. the only way to improve performance would be to have access to the native Sony player.

by the way, the 3D options are independently from that, they are just not available in the Android builds of Kodi.

Hello.
I have the same Problem as mysteray in Post 116. I had installed the 15.2 an 16.0 beta on the TV.
The 3D-Options are not available in the Action Menu, what seems to be a problem with the Implementation either with KODI or the Android System on the TV. The TV doesn't recognize KODI as a Video APP.

On the other side a connected Raspberry Pi (openElec 5.0) plays 3D SBS and Top/Bottom without Problems over HDMI.

As the Kodi Wiki says only "anaglyph and interlaced modes are not supported. There seems to be a flag or something to be set to tell the TV that KODI is a Video App.

Has anybody a Solution yet?

Sorry if this has already been answered but someone said this TV has 1.5GB of RAM. Seeing 1GB RAM cachmembuffersize should be 157286400, what would this value be for 1.5GB RAM? 235929600? I just divided 157286400 by 2 and times by 3. Sound right?

Could someone provide instructions on what you need to do to get the Kodi Remote App to work with a Sony Android TV? When I allowed HTTP access, the Remote App was able to detect the Kodi on TV, but it has never been able to actually connect to it, and control it. I wonder if something needs to be configured in the Android to allow pass-through?

I have a Raspberry Pi running Kodi, and have no problem connecting to it and controlling it with the Kodi Remote App.

it works as a touch remote, and types text on iphone instead of using sony's RC, but on Kodi dunno if there's a fix for it.

thanks!

Hey,

I use the Kodi Remote App and it works great. You can have full control over Kodi from your phone. It also supports keyboard but you need to switch to it first. Hope that helps.

Armen thanks a lot, i installed it, unable to connect it to kodi yet, but i will eventually gonna search online today. merci beaucoup Sir.
