Does anyone got a mplayer.conf that gives us a overall best throughput and quality using mostly divx/xvid files? Or is it the codecs.conf I should edit?!

- elupus - 2007-02-23

yea don't touch it. secondly wrong thread, this is only about the preliminary version of mplayer.dll.

i'm running the 2/1/07 build which I had to upgrade to in order to have the smb shares properly work with vista.. Since then i've been having issues where a majority of the larger files i've tried to play (avi/mpeg) from my pc shares are all seeming to freeze up on load.. either at the loading popup or simply starting to pull the files down then never showing the loading popup..

here's a debug log of the file failing to load at all..

you are running out of memory.... and is this with my new mplayer.dllHuh i'm doubtfull since you haven't said anything about if it's the same in the old version....

if not, it has nothing todo with this thread...

- ju1ce - 2007-02-25

I was getting issues with it starting movies prior to replacing the new mplayer.dll

but these issues all started after i upgraded to a feb xbmc .. previously it worked fine against xp then i had to upgrade to vista which broke xbmc..

I saw in other threads that people suggested trying this dll for these issues which is why i thought it was relevant.. if you have things you'd like me to try i'm more than willing..

- elupus - 2007-02-26

and you still missed the crucial information. does it work in the new mplayer.dll? (the one you downloaded from this thread).

- ju1ce - 2007-02-26

oh.. yes it is..

I missread your sentence earlier.. thought it said "and this is with my new mplayer.dll" so I thought you already realized it was.. my bad

- elupus - 2007-02-26

i can tell you this directly, a remux of those files will work. They DO have a broken avi index. However I can agree it aught to be abit more reliable.

If you could try playing them with a conf file (filename of movie.ext.conf) with the line "demuxer=35" in it, it would be interesting.

Also check them in windows mplayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu)

How come mplayer doesn't handle Flash Video streams? DVDPlayer seems to choke on a quite a few of them which leads to freezes. When upgrading mplayer then this would be a very nice feature to add.

- dsvensson - 2007-02-27

Oh, and the output from mplayer on my laptop gives the following log message:
==========================================================================
Opening video decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg's libavcodec codec family
Selected video codec: [ffflv] vfm: ffmpeg (FFmpeg Flash video)
==========================================================================

- dsvensson - 2007-02-27

oh, nevermind, it was the same problem as with dvdplayer.. url redirection can't be resolved, and if I resolve it in my script and feed mplayer the correct url, it plays it if mplayer on my laptop can play it, which is not always the case. So nevermind my two previous posts.

The issue seems to be a bug in mplayer so I dropped an email to upstream:

Problems playing certain live stream! - hugo5 - 2007-03-06

Greetings to you all!

I have great problems playing following stream with xbmc: mms://streamer.hirtv.net/hirtv.asf (which is a Hungarian news TV, by the way)

I have recently installed t3ch's latest 040307 SVN build and with the original mplayer.dll it wouldn't play at all.

After updloading the latest build of the test mplayer.dll (070214) it surely starts, but the audio and video is extremely async!

From the forums of mplayerhq.hu I found out, that with the win32 version of mplayer this stream has to be started with the commandline option -v and doing so results in perfect playback. So what do I have to do, to make it play allright on my xbmc'd xbox? :confused2:

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Hugo

- elupus - 2007-03-06

-v only enables verbose mode, doesn't influence sync at all.
