In need to access m3u8 files, you need to use the mobile version of hotstar.com because f4m is not supported on mobile and it uses m3u8 files which are accessible on kodi.

Interestingly, I changed the quality from Highest to 720 with IP address set to off, and for the first time streaming a wt20 game worked, albeit with the same one minute buffering interruption that was mentioned earlier. It was the womens one so I need to test it again incase there is a difference. I imagine there are only a handful of t20 games left but the fix may apply to future live games. I have confirmed with dns providers that both starsports and Hotstar are supported because they originate from the same servers.
I tried yesterday with the browser as well, and got same behavior. So I am guessing that vpn and hotstar don't go well hand in hand. Or maybe there is something we all are missing here. On a side note, I had tried one live t20 game last week on starsports website from chrome browser with VPN and got somewhat similar behavior, but the buffering was not so frequent. It was like once in 5 min or so.

Referer shouldn't be hard to add(as long as we can find json which has the link to actual page url), until now it has worked without providing referer and still working in the case of movies. I'll poke around later on to see if I can figure out referer. its okay to not provide host, as its actually the url to server.

How does the India IP option work? I set it as one of the IPs from the referenced list, but I still see "India IP issue?" errors popup when I try to visit "Sports" menu and try videos within. Other features worked even without India IP.
Do I need to set it on the device itself as well? Do i need to restart the device or is it instantaneous?
Should I just try with a different India IP? Why not just randomly pick one from that list instead of asking users to set??

No you do not need set it on device, just the addon settings.
I stayed away from random option, because I wanted everyone to understand how Hotstar was possible when this addon started(most of the categories worked fluently before geo-blocks)

@yocoldrain thanks for the swift response, and this addon, but I am still unclear. I am in singapore, I need the Indian IP feature to work. I have tried a second IP from the list as well, but I cant get it to work.
Are you able to help me test on my browser so I can verify where the issue lies? Or I can test multiple IPs until i find the one that works.
Edit: I was able to go through the code and see that you are adding an `X-Forwarded-For: ` header to make this happen.. I tried to export one of the requests that was getting a 403 into curl and adding that, and I still get 403

Perhaps they stopped looking at the X-Forwarded-For header? It is an extension after all right? Or was it for sure working before?
As for random, you can implement a random IP but only if ppl enable that option?

Hotstar works with VPN. Just tested it with IPL preview video in the featured section.

Does it work for you in browser? (Singapore is interesting one, I thought they'd be one of the last external country to be blocked)
Most of (if not all) sports videos are geoblocked, so you need Indian VPN solution.
@assilent, before you post any logs, what exactly is not working? is it addon not installing, not opening, or not fetching any videos... please provide details.

Anybody got this working with India VPN without any buffering issues? Like mentioned before. Which VPN providers are you using?
Edit: I think there is no buffer/cache being used even for non-live streams. Is it just how this addon is created or Hotstar itself don't support it? If I play any movie or show it never buffers it even if I pause it for sometime.

I am from USA and don't have a INDIA VPN.. so on hotstar I tried using IP's given in this URL bit.ly/1LhsHMX but getting " No video Links IP Issue ?? " what am I missing here
? Please Advise....
