myepisodes.com support - freezy - 2007-04-26

hi there,

i'm using myepisodes.com for several months in order to keep track of my tv shows. it's a great platform for knowing which episode(s) i acquired and which i already watched.

since xbmc has a similar feature, i'm wondering if other ppl would welcome myepisodes.com support in xbmc. the idea would be:

when tv content is rescanned, newly found episodes are automatically marked as "acquired" at myepisodes.com. when an episode passes from unwatched to watched, the episode is marked as "watched" at myepisodes.com.

so xbmc would automatically update my profile at myepisodes.com, making it very easy to know which episodes i need to acquire even if the xbox is not on or i'm not at home.

comments?

cheers,

-f3k.

too specialised / small a target audience imo

maybe ppl would start using more then? don't you tv junkies have the problem that you dont remember which series you've already downloaded? this site is a big time saver for me, and would be, i guess, for any other ppl too.

hmm. meaning?

Its slang for "Wheres Mr Einstein and his mohawk hiding today"

I could incorporate this into my site, but the username parameter would have to be an optional setting, since there are some privacy issues with doing this. The watched/unwatched thing is a bit much, but just keeping track of which episodes you're scanning wouldn't be too difficult.

You'd have to bribe spiff to put in a setting for zsori_usercode (or something like that) and pass that info to me. If he doesn't want to do it for whatever reason, or just doesn't have the time to do it, then it won't be done on either end.

yeah, that would be a possibility also. although it would be nice to track "watched" AND "acquired".

It's impossible to track watched without significant changes to my site's interfaces and without significant bandwidth increases. It won't be happening. Tracking acquired would be the only option.

so myepisodes.com then Smile

am i the only guy using that site?

XBMC already tracks what you have watched and not watched. As long as you watch something to the end it gets a check mark in the library, alternatively you can 'white-button' an entry and choose to mark it as watched.

yeah, i know, as stated above. this thread is about syncing this information with myepisodes.com, which is a far superior system for tracking your tv shows.

i maybe should have mentioned that you should try the site with your shows and see what it can do. just browsing the site doesn't show you how it works and what it's capable of.

No you're not the only one guy. I often go to myepisodes.com to update my profile, shows I've seen, but manually. It would be great if such a module can be included in XBMC to keep our myepisodes.com profile up-to-date.

pw = patch welcome

I previously used MyEpisodes.com as a way to see what shows are coming up to watch. I never understood why anyone "keeps track" - I guess I just have a life outside of TV? If I miss an episode I get the torrent and DL it.

I now use Next-Episode.net for seeing what is coming up. Just as nice as MyEpisodes and has a few other features, but I don't use them either.

The ONLY thing I could see that would be nice is to be able to see from XBMC what the schedule of my favorite upcoming shows are... thus MyEpisodes.com or Next-Episode.net would be perfect for this.

But, as Spiff stated... very limited audience.

I think integration with tv.com would have a much larger impact on the community and provide much more functionality.
