Pairing new PS3 remote - SmellyCat - 2016-02-20

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can pair the new version of the PS3 remote with Windows?
What buttons do I need to press so Windows can see the device?

Google is still working. https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#q=pair+ps3+remote+pc
Link 1 is a nice post from this forum http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=38333

Maybe you can search the next time.

That is about the old PS3 remote, not the new one.

Don't make assumptions next time.

Read the thread. don't make assumptions that it does not contain what you seek.

I already read the thread before posting. There is one other person with the same question.
Of course there are 37 pages... And now please don't post if you don't have something useful to contribute.

I found the answer on another forum.
Select+Start should work for the new PS3 remote too.
Unfortunately it doesn't. Tuesday an old PS3 remote should arrive, so let's see if it works with that.
Otherwise I'll reinstall Windows. Gives me an excuse to upgrade to Windows 10 and Kodi 16.

2ND gen Ps3 remote works perfectly fine in windows (I used ps3remotesleep in association with eventghost). I retired mine after two years of use because they eat batteries and have to be repaired after every change. Went with a universal ir remote instead.

Wow i was about to sit in for a good fight but alas no such luck Smile

Seriously glad you got your answer some may bite on here but don't bite back initially coz it could just be a bad day for them or someone else p155ing them off, Andy is obviously a very helpful chap and makes a valid point as lots of users dont search and want someone else to do all the work for them so i see where his anger originated as mine does on occasion too kindred spirits maybe Smile Peace out ppl

Yea, I was in a rather bad mood myself.

I've done something that I actually should have done right away.... I tried the remote controls with the PS3.
Neither my old remote, which used to work for years, nor the new version remote can pair with the PS3. Quite surprising the new one doesn't work. I guess it's dead on arrival and I will return it.
Tomorrow the old version PS3 remote should arrive, and I'll first try it with the PS3.

Yes, both of them are bluetooth. And the new one also has IR to control TV. Seemed like a nice feature.

I'll quote Andy:

If you've read that post, espescially the pairing part, and you can't figure it out: Read it again, and again, and again...

RE: Pairing new PS3 remote - SmellyCat - 2016-02-23

So the old version of the PS3 remote arrived today, and it still doesn't work!
Neither Windows or my PS3 are able to see the remote control when pressing Select+Start button.
This is so weird. I ordered these remote controls from amazon.co.uk. Are remotes region locked or something?
I find it hard to believe I am so unlucky that I received two remotes that are dead on arrival.
