Hi there,
I was wondering if there is a default File Selection dialog that one can use to select a file/folder on the Xbox filesystem?
I see that XBMC uses one, but is it also available to python scripters?

yes, grab the python docs. look at xbmcgui.html.
The docs are in svn https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/xbmc/trunk/docs/python_docs.rar
There not completely upto date, but the browse dialog is in there
