DRM Channels not Playing TWC - shesakillatwo - 2016-06-03
I am kinda new to this and have just set up my WMC (Windows 7) to act as a server to clients for Live TV. Let me first apologize if my questions have been answered before but I can not search on DRM due to string length limitations.
I am a TWC customer so many channels are protected / copy once. I followed the guide and have things mostly working properly but have noted two specific problems.
First is that all copy freely channels work fine when playing on a client (either a PC with Kodi or an android box with Kodi), but any that are protected seem to try and play but I get a mostly green smeared screen with beeps and buzzes for audio. I am using a HDHOMERUN Prime which works well with Ceton Echo extenders playing DRM protected channels. I thought this configuration would allow the playing of the protected channels on Kodi Clients but if Not then call me stupid and just let me know. If it should though, any suggestions on where to look for a solution would be greatly appreciated?
Second issue I noted was a lagging of video with the WMC setup versus just using the HDHOMERUN client directly. It appears like the video buffer empties and every few seconds pauses to fill before continuing to play. This may be a network or WMC server issue which I will look into but anyone who may have experienced this before and has insight please feel free to offer suggestions.

Unfortunately the only software than can play drm'd content is wmc (also its very unfortunate that you are stuck with twc, because they love drm).
As to why you are having buffering issues, if you search this sub forum you'll see that they aren't uncommon but there are lots of possible reasons why it is happening. The network speed is a good place to start though, other bottle necks are disk speed and cpu speed. If you don't make any progress you can start give us some system details and swmc logs.
If you want you can have swmc and kodi use dlna addressing and you'll get performance similar to hdhomerun direct play. However kodi won't enable fast-forward or rewind with dlna streams.

I recently found out that the Silicondust HDHomerun Android software will play protected content on Android. I use it on my Fire TV

Thanks for the notes above. I assume you mean the Silicondust HDHomerun stand alone Android application vs the Kodi HD Homerun App. Or does it work with both since they are both Silicondust apps? I will try these when I get home.
