[LINUX] LCD/VFD support under XBMC for Linux? - Gamester17 - 2007-12-17

Could the LCDproc library be implemented into the XBMC Linux port using the existing LCD API for the Xbox version?

http://lcdproc.org
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lcdproc/
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Imon
Quote:LCDproc controls various LCD and VFD devices in a standardized way, and ships with a client to display various system statistics. Supports multiple platforms (Linux, *BSD, Solaris). Client/server model allows multiple systems/clients to use one display.
Many (if not most) HTPC chassi comes with a LCD or VFD display today, and for those chassi that do not come with one you can buy a drop-in display for 5,25" slots, (for example iMON which may be one of the most sold solutions, it like most other 5,25" slot LCD you can buy comes with a LIRC compatible InfraRed-reciever built-in). Some newer are USB connected, however mopst older are connected via the serial or paralell port.

Huh

EDIT: There are of course other open source LCD/VFD libraries for Linux out there, LCDproc was only the first one I found when searching

Eek

After just a little research it looks like LCDproc is the best alternative as a LCD library for XBMC Linux port, (it is still activly maintained and supports a large amount of LCD/VFD displays)

...but just in case here are some alternatives to LCDproc:
