Help Getting Started. - Broads - 2008-01-26

So, I've been a long time user of xbmc on the good ol xbox.. Even built a skin.

However, I now want to see what linux has to offer and have installed ubunto. so next up is installing xbmc... Have I missed the guide to installing or the install file it self, If someone could point me in the right direction I would be much obliged.

Many Thanks.

Heey,

well more information about the Linux Port Project you can find on:

http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index.php?title=Linux_port_project

And for the installation manual.. see:

http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/?title=HOW-TO_compile_XBMC_for_Linux_from_source_code

I'm as quite a linux newby was able to get it up and running Wink well important is to make sure you have video HW-Acceleration under ubuntu..

To check type in terminal: 'glxinfo'
it should saw something like direct rendering: Yes ..

If you have a newer ATI or Nvidia card you can use this installer script to get direct rendering
Envy
You will need to have a OpenGL 2.x capable card.
