Perhaps Murdoch got his phone hacking mixed up with ISP blocking. Some of his minions connected the wrong wires.

Oh a side note, It seems that the iPlayer service has changed how it is listing stuff. I used to go find the shows I wish to watch by navigating in the "categories". Say I wished to watch some sort of comedy, I would go "iplayer-addon>>categories>>show-like-Qi"
or say I wanted to watch a movie that was on the iPlayer. I would go "iplayer-addon>>categories>>Films>>Cool-Move-on-TV"
But now if you go looking by categories, The addon returns blank pages.
But in my quest to see if it was me or my setup. I found that I can still find shows if I now navigate by the "Channel Highlights". The videos are still playable, You just have to navigate a different way.
So if you are thinking you are blocked, Check if you are just getting the same issue as me.

I've got a fix for that until CaptainT gets back and updates the Kodi repo. https://github.com/primaeval/plugin.video.iplayerwww/archive/master.zip
You might have to uninstall the original first.

If you installed my fix you might need to uninstall it.
I can see the addon in the Kodi repo at: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/addons/helix/plugin.video.iplayerwww/
My 15.2 picks it up ok.

1.2.10 is just the fix that primaeval already provided integrated into the official repo. If anybody wants to says thanks, please thank him.
Automatic update worked for me, so if it does not for somebody else, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the add-on.

Thanks for bringing this up again. I can finally duplicate this issue. Aired date works in Highlights, but not in Categories or A-Z.
I will make sure this is adressed in the next update, which hopefully will be a bigger change to make the add-on more stable overall. Might take another week or two, though.
