with dx sdk and windows sdk

what exactly do you mean with "windows sdk" ?

- tiben20 - 2009-09-06

humm http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb980924.aspx
the windows platforms sdk you can get the new one for windows 7. Its important you get the x64 version if your planning to compile on a x64 platform

Hi all !

I on Linux Vdpau, but i find win directx rendering very interesting.
I tested the latest DX buils. It works pretty well.

A few questions:

The renderer is VMR9 or EVR ?
What type of upscaling does it use ?

Thanks,

Alan

spiff Wrote:as long as it's made perfectly clear that this is WIP code and that anyone grabbing it have to expect a bumpy ride, we're certainly not against it (rather the opposite). we're past the initial this-crap-won't-even-compile-stage and are at the why-doesnt-that-crap-render stage Wink

XBMCSetup-Rev22781-dx - use at your own risk.

XBMCSetup-Rev22781-gl - use at your own risk.

ikons-

we would really prefer if these 3rd party builds were skipped for a while. Even with warnings, users will no-doubt use it without understanding that some things are bound to be broken.

Thanks
TheUni

edit: nevermind, just saw spiff's ok. proceed with caution Smile

So eventually the plus side of using dx will be using dxva to offload the work to the gpu. But for the time being once all is working well again there will be no difference?

- Freddo - 2009-09-07

That's pretty much it yeah.

*ahem* not a dev, but that's my understanding of it too.

- azido - 2009-09-07

i think we should respect the wishes of our loyal builders to not discuss dx usage here and keep this topic clean.

New auto update path for directx builds:
http://danielpatton.com/user-accounts/XBMC-updates/dx

If you want to use the experimental directx builds with the auto updater, change the relaseURL in the settings tab to the above url.

does that mean you'll build them now regulary along with the gl builds?

Regularly might be an over statement for now, but I plan to. I need to do some modifications to my build script to ease the process. Once I get that done it will be more often.

There is a new build up now.

XBMC-Rev22814.zip

yeah i've already noticed and downloaded.
just asked because if they will be very sporadic i still might try to do my own builds, else i would just save my time waiting for your updates to come Tongue
