Problem connecting Atv to imac - rayetayr - 2008-12-02
I am unable to connect my atv (with XBMC) to my imac. Atv connects to imac and XBMC is connected to the internet (weather works) but every time I have tried to add a source for video or music I get a message "Unable to connect .. Could not retrieve directory information...this could be due to the network not being connected." Again the wx function works fine.
I am a newbie so it could be something basic. I've searched the forum and youtube's but nothing has fixed it.

Did you enable Filesharing including SMB on your iMAC ?

Thanks, I had file sharing on and had windowsharing/smb on and off while troubleshooting. Having them both on and trying other combinations I was able to connect to the imac using 'browse' to 'add a source'.
