We should get http://getvideoartwork.com/ in touch with the scraper guys. it gets me about 95% hits.

BliBlaBlo Wrote:i also have one question how i should prepare my movies for aeon stark...
the "best" resolution for posters is 1080px height, right? (even though i just have a 720p TV, i think i'll go with 1080p posters just to be sure its better quality Wink )... But what about the width of the posters? How many px would be "perfekt" to fit into the preview fields? What aspect ratio should they have? What's the "best" for aeon stark?

Greetings, BliBlaBlo

the optimal width of posters in Aeon Stark is 729 x 1080 pixels as read in the Aeon Stark forum thread.

- Hitcher - 2009-03-09

Typo - he means 720x1080 but if I was running XBMC in 720p I'd be inclined to resize them to 480x720 so XBMC doesn't have to scale them down every time.

No typo by ethan_9219, with the current aspect ratio of the posters in Aeon Stark the width is 729px, assuming a height of 1080px. There was some confusion about this earlier,

djh_ as qouted;

"Thumbs and full size posters used by the info views. And it's 729, not 720 - I was derailed by some other wrong person."

Page 26 of the Aeon Stark thread "Three...".

Still think the resolution should be 1:1.5 rather than 1:1.48. The 1:1.5 ratio makes sense, is adopted by my site, Apple's itunes store and a lot of posters fit that ratio. It seems to straddle the line of poster sizing - as there really doesn't seem to be any actual standard in operation - especially with all the new media types that they pump out.

Then again, if I remember correctly (which I'm probably not) the info view of a movie cropped the poster to 1:1.48 so a poster that's a ratio of 1:1.5 is not really loosing any content information, hopefully. Smile

I hope that someone who has some experience with XBMC skinning will show us how to change ratio to 1:1.5 if its even possible.

- asphinx - 2009-03-10

Reasonably that wouldn't be difficult at all. Once Aeon is released to the public, find the xml that contains the info view, find the image tag for the poster, re-calculate the width x height properties and modify accordingly.
My biggest concern would be if the layout is altered to much, but seeing the preview of the info view there seems to be some room to play around with things without making it look like shite. Wink

Personally I can't wait to get my hands of Aeon so I can modify the OSD to display current time and a few other things that I have missed from Aeon (already modified it in the alpha) Smile

I've started getting all my posters from http://www.getvideoartwork.com/ as they're 1000x1500 (1:1.5 which is very close to what Stark uses 1:1.48).
I then resize them to 720x1080 as I've found they load almost instantly when bringing up the info screen where as leaving at 1000x1500 causing a delay in loading (obviously due to XBMC having to resize them).

- natew - 2009-03-10

^ I imagine it's more likely that it takes longer because XBMC has to load the larger images from the hdd rather than because it has to resize them. . .not that it really matters.

Finally finished downloading high res posters for all my movies but now I need to copy and rename them to the -big.png format.

Does anyone know if there's a way of scanning each folder for the actual video and then copying and rename the movie.tbn using the video name?

I'm not sure of all the details of what's required, but if you can outline what / where / current name and what it will need to be, I'm sure I can make a tool that does it.

Here you go -

fekker Wrote:ok, this should do what your looking for

http://www.mediafire.com/?nymg2mzzbuy

add the root path that contain your movies
Media > Movies_HD

it will scan recursively for all sub folders.. when it finds a valid movie file, it'll look for a movie.tbn, if there is not a <moviename>.<ext>-big.png there, it will copy the movie.tbn to <moviename>.<ext>-big.png

I didn't do any fancy background workers, so it may take a bit to run without any indication in the gui, depending on how many movies it's looking through..

I tested it against a test set I use for MIP, didn't have any problems.

if if works, feel free to post the link to the thread, if somethings off, let me know and i'll rework it

In a couple of minutes I had all my '-big.png' posters made from my newly downloaded movie.tbn's.

Thanks fekker.
