Tester - baukeo - 2009-04-08

Do you need a tester for the xbox? I can also help with the dutch language if you want. The skin looks awesome by the way! Keep up the good work!

keeganl Wrote:Digital, I guess Serenity is making waves. It has pushed the almighty aeon to incorporate a feature in our little old skin. That's very humbling in this community.

Aeon is amazing. Maybe Serenity will make the same kind of waves when it is released.

Also, Digital. The newest build is amazing. Loving it. The settings finally feel right. Amazing job.

Isn't it neat? The only thing I've got left to do is finish out the infoviews and throw in a few dialogues that are missing...and that danged localization. That is gonna be a humdinger.

zeltak Wrote:Hi Guys

The skin looks really awesome. I am actually a bit "disappointed" with Aeon since on my 3:4 i can barley see the text (it has nothing to do with Aeon i know Smile ) and so i was waiting patiently for Serenity. It looks like its been pushed for next week..is there anyway yo get a preview of the beta?

thx

Zeltak

Thank you. One of the things I made sure to keep in mind when designing all of this is to make it as universal as possible.

Beta release...probably not. I've already got a handful of testers who seem to have little to report. I personally am having a hard time finding anything that still needs fixing.

Therefore, I will probably actually release this before the 13th. As soon as I've got the infoviews finished and localization complete, it'll make public release.

See above. Xbox tester...not really necessary. Dutch language, however, is a def. maybe. I'm gonna start making up my strings.xml file right now, we'll see how far I get. I'll keep you posted.

Here is the english-language strings.xml file.

Allright...now I'm happy with the video section.

Check out this short video which shows off the new fanart view...

Now you can browse movies by all posters, some posters, or no posters (as promised ages ago). Effing sweet.

Browsing with just fanart looks so freakin' sweet! Very nice one there, although I for some reason would still like to see the title of the movie.. might just be me though.. Wink

I'm working on incorporating that into the RSS bar right now. The title will display for 1.5 seconds and then fade back to the RSS.

At this point I'm going to have to give a sarcastic "thank you" for actually making it more and more difficult to choose between Serenity or Aeon.. god damn you! Big Grin

This skin just gets better and better can't wait to try it!!!

LOL. You know, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I'd one day be making a skin that people are actually considering as competition to Stark. It's quite flattering. And then to consider that I did it in about 1/4 of the time...

Makes a guy feel pretty good about his programming skills.

I'm also going through and adding all those sexy lil' springy animations to the various dialog windows.

Seriously...this should be ready to go either tomorrow or friday. *fingers crossed*

Well you should feel good.. albeit the style is not as much in my taste, it's the massive amount of features that have me intrigued.. Smile

Yeah, I did kind of intend for it to be like a swiss army knife. My first reaction on seeing a new skin was always to go "what about this feature, or that feature, or this feature...". This way, I hope to be able to beat the majority of people to the punch. Wink

Are people having good luck with this on Xbox? Even the "lite" versions of Stark soaks up too much memory to be reliable. If this one works well I think you can expect a very large number of downloaders. The screens look amazing so far.

Yesssiiirr. Provided you aren't using 1080p fanart or super-huge posters, this skin should fly on an xbox. Hell, the main texture (dropback.png) is a 20x20 black file which is just scaled as needed. And it's used 318 times throughout the skin.

So yeah, this is Xbox-friendly.

I changed all the backdrops to 540px wide images (1 per menu) and this skin uses less memory than the original PMIII. Rolleyes

I haven't tested in an SD resolution yet though... has anyone? The text looks like it might be too small to be readable from couch distance on a 32" SD tv like mine... I'll test and report later tonight.
