Killa is a very bad example to use for any of this. Yes it's high bitrate, but the encode is terrible, and it doesnt start with a keyframe which is why you get the corruption at the beginning (even on linuxport).

AllanMar Wrote:I just tried and the non-vdpau branch plays much better than the vdpau brand (when started in 1080p). It dosnt play great, but its sorta watchable whereas when i start vdpau xbmc in 1080p its compleatly out of sync and unwatchable.

Can anyone with a better cpu (that can handle 1080p without vdpau) and has the problem i've been describing (works fine when started in auto and changed to 1080p, but not when started in 1080p) try the normal xbmc branch? I'm still not convinced if this is a vdpau branch problem or not.

Please follow the directions above, there is an additional change commited to SVN which may help out here - i disabled the software upscaler for VDPAU content (its upscaled in hardware anyway).

Aside from this, there is no reason for xrandr choosing different resolutions, unless there is something knocking it off in the user settings.

To recap... make reallyclean and svn up...

I've upped to r18404 and still the same problem with the hdpvr clip. Starting in auto then changing rez plays back perfectly. I haven't had a chance to test normal svn branch yet.

This certainly is a curious problem.

anybody have favorite or recommended settings for the post processing made available by vdpau?

Finally got it to work perfect =) In Ubuntu 8.10 I have been trying to get it to run on XBMC Live now but no success =\ I get strange color and frame drops... ?!?

Atom and 8400 GS PCI - drefas - 2009-03-11

Im interested in building an Atom based XBMC using the same PCI 8400GS card that you are using.
What are your experiences so far with x264 720p and 1080p? Have you tried the killa sample?

- shagworthy_uk - 2009-03-11

Just a note to say thanks!

I am running SVN 18400 and Nvidia driver 180.37 and everything i have tried works perfectly, even my insanely high bitrate stuff like what the killa sample is taken from.

I dont have the issues that others are describing (luckily) but if there is something you want me to try on my set up, just ask and i will see if i can reproduce (if of course, that would be productive)

Almoust everything I've tested so far runs good (including killa sample) except some framedrops in when the video starts.

I'm having the frequence to 24Hz otherwise i get "jitter". I also sometimes get audio out of sync. But this happens to xvids aswell.

I havn't updated in a few days now, so don't know if these issues still exists with the latest svn.

When is your next merge to linuxport planned? Just wondering because I think there were some problems with the scrapers in linuxport 18295 that have now been fixed.

It all depends on the movie. Some have been complaining about noise and has used the noise reduction in VDPAU. Personally I think it looks great in default setting Smile

The only instance of XBMC I have on my machine is motd2k's vdpau branch...so I used make install when I first compiled. I was wanting to upgrade and was wondering if make install will overwrite my database? Should I just make and then copy the bin?

- motd2k - 2009-03-12

make install in that case.

1080p test - mythmaster - 2009-03-12

Here's an awesome clip to test 1080p --> http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/hd_gallery/gl1800/1080p/artbeats_m1080p20080210.mov

Works perfect for me! Nod

@ motd2k

please please please Smile is there a way to fix the below, I mentioned it couple of days and I saw lots of new code changes in the last 2 days, so I compiled the latest code but still broken. I understand if it is not on the top of your list.
