ComicVine scrapper (data + covers) have been added into the last version of Advanced Launcher : http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=881398&postcount=2520
I have also added some windows comic viewer configurations into the wiki page : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=Comic_Books_Archives

niiiiiiice scrapper xD

keep it up !

p.s: i guess ill be staying with comical since no other comic viewer out there is so fast and offers such insane image quality thanks to its

lanczos 3 image filter that it got , xD

thou i would enjoy some different page transition effects to give it abit more pizzaz

it is open source afterall , anybody interested in adding some page transition effects to it?

or even perhaps use the inbuilt xbmc image viewer and give that the ability to select image filters such as lanczos 3 and page transition effects

I have also tried to see if it was possible to use XBMC internal viewer, but I did not found the command or way to do it.

BTW, is here is a related tutorial on how use XBMC and of Comics Viewer and the use of the ComicVine scraper : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Pl-3yEDgUY

And here I was going to go back to ComicRack for reading my comics on my TV....SWEEEET!!!

- hentai23 - 2011-09-06

well that sux , hope there will be a way to integrate it with xbmc image viewer sometime , anyhow until

then ill just use comical with xbmc as i already said , well atleast we got something good from comicrack and that is its comic vine source xD

oh and i even opened a thread over at comicrack forums , they didnt like what i had to say about comicracks crappy image filter , they must be using something like bilinear or some shit -.-'

common wake up it isnt the 90's anymore xD

nowadays and has been for some years you use lanczos 3 or better .....oh boy!

Now available in Aeon Nox - BigNoid - 2011-09-09

Recommended file structure:
Comics/Spider-Man/issue #1.cbr
The comic section is disabled by default. Go to Home window options and enable the comics section and set the path to your Comics folder. Comics backgrounds can be customized in the Home window customizer.

Available in eden-pre only

Screenshots (I am no comic buff, so only a few folders, probably will look better when fully populated):

Wow I wasn't expecting to ever see this thread again.. It was a fun learning experience back when I was messing around with this.. At first I just wanted a section for my comics and as I learned more about how it all worked, started changing everything else in the skin.. I eventually switched over to using a launcher plugin to open up comicrack..

These days I read my comics on tablets and I love it.. So I'm back to editing programs to my taste, but I'm messing around with Ipad and Android programs.. I was using an Ipad and just recently got the Asus Transformer to take over..

ComicRack is the coolest thing to ever happen to eComics.. The comic vine scraper works great and they have so many different plugins to rename, resize, and reorganize.. They also have plugins to transfers new comics as you get them to your tablet..

It's nice to see other comic lovers around here.. There weren't too many of us back when I was messing with this..

I read comics about 75% of the time on an iPad and 25% using XBMC or ComicRack on my HDTV. XBMC, unsurprisingly has a much slicker and more pleasant way of browsing through comics and since I have my entire collection on my HTPC, it's an awesome visual catalog.

What I'm wishing for someday? A way to browse comics and flip through them in an interface like XBMC, then mark them with a single keystroke for sync, and then sync them wirelessly to my iPad. Or even better... custom playlists with reading orders, using ComicRack data about crossover events and tie-ins. How sweet would that be?

1 word: WOW!

Will this come to Dharma? Or does this need something from Eden build to work?

- Choque - 2011-09-13

Just one thing BigNoid - I LOVE YOU
I'd love you even more, if it would be for the Dharma version too Big Grin But I can understand you in bringing it to the Eden version first (only) since that's obviously the future of Nox

- ibixat - 2011-09-13

it's looking fantastic Big_Noid.. now if you want to be what I'd consider truly sick is if the system is able to track a file as "watched", have "unwatched" comics show as the raw cover image and have "watched" comics bagged and boarded via overlay. I don't know if it's possible but it would take my current wow factor at what you've done to a completely different level. =)

Maybe it will be more useful to create additional views into Aeon for program add-ons to view comics instead of creating a specific pictures viewer entry into the Aeon skin that will display comics but not support information display or scraping features. Because this is how actually look my comics section into XBMC using Aeon Nox 1.6.0 and Advanced Launcher 1.5.6 :

Mostly complete... Just "Platform" information display that may be replaced by "Genre" display on certain views.

- Choque - 2011-09-13

I want that Angelscry!

- BigNoid - 2011-09-13

I can add a default action button to the comics section so that you can add a favorite to it, while still have the choice to use internal viewer.
