RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - exobuzz - 2013-12-20

and 2 weeks ago none of the limelight rtmp links worked, so you see, much of this is well out of my control :/

MilhouseVH: I just installed the plugin on my Pi running openELEC and I was able to play back that stream and others without problems. I would try again, and see. Lot's of things can affect this, from your network connection, to the selected CDN, to the version of librtmp on your system. I am however unable to reproduce the problem here.

Yes, Play.

(2013-12-20, 16:34)exobuzz Wrote: Your log is not complete, but it looks as though player got an EOF. try again / try changing video source preference. I've not tested it on the PI, but the plugin just takes a URL and gives it to xbmc to play. after that it is out of the control of the plugin.

Here's a debug log - first I play the show with source set to "Limelight" (works), then again with source set to "Any" (plays briefly then ends), then "Akamai" (works) and finally "Level 3" (plays briefly, then ends).

Edit: Just selected Limelight as a source, played it again and then it stopped so Akamai is the only reliable source for me.

Please can you a) try on another machine in your house like a linux or windows machine (with frodo). b) try on the pi with open elec stable / frodo as that is what I just tested with. Might determine if it is network related or something else (Maybe some of the CDN's don't like your IP for example, or there is connection/routing issues, or maybe it's something else). Most of the things are out of the plugin's control anyway.

Iplayer 2.4.18 has worked well for me on the apple tv for many months. But since yesterday, it is not retrieving any files when trying to watch a programme. Is it working for other people?

Is this new version of the Iplayer 2.5.1 compatible with ATV? When i installed it, i got an error "dependencies not met".

Thanks

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - exobuzz - 2013-12-21

You mean nothing shows up for a channel / programme ? Try turning the cache off in the addon settings. Sometimes the BBC site returns blank files for the RSS feeds, or at least I have noticed that when testing. You can also post a debug log if you want further information, else I would just be guessing. It should be compatible - it has a dependency on script.module.elementtree, although I can probably remove that as all platforms have a new enough python to use the builtin. Having said that, that dependency should be available from xbmc. Without a debug log I can't help further.

OK exobuzz, I have just run the Iplayer 2.4.18 - below is the log file - see link below.

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=100360

What is happening is, when i open the IPLAYER ... then goto TV -> HIGHLIGHTS -> BBC ONE -> {retrieved 0 items}

Which ever option I choose, e.g. CATEGORIES, POPULAR etc, there are no items retrieved so there are no programmes to view i.e. the result set is empty.

I hope this helps! Thanks

Hi all,

I'm still new here, but have been using the BBC Iplayer on my ATV2 with an Overplay SmartDNS VPN server without problems for almost a year.
But since about yesterday it has ceased to work.
I can access Iplayer alright, I even get the icons and titles of the individual broadcasts, but when I choose to watch something, I get the pop up: error fetching media info - please check network access to iplayer by c...

And then the error script failed

Here is a link to the log:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=100491

I'd be very grateful if somebody could help me out here!

Thanks,

Dicamolla

looks like geolocking related - you are not getting the correct data xml data from the bbc. Note this plugin is for UK users, I do not officially support the use of proxy's/VPNs.

thanks exobuzz - my son says you are a "genius". all working well. many thanks again!

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - dicamolla - 2013-12-22

Thanks exobuzz - so I'll have to check why my VPN is not working - don't worry, I'm not bothering you with that!

Thank you so much!

I am getting a script error when accessing the 'search' function on iPlayer ver 2.5.1 using Openelec on Rasberry Pi.

I have uploaded a log file to:

http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=101044

Can anybody suggest a solution? Thanks.

RE: [RELEASE] iPlayer - BBC Video and Music Plugin (UK only!) - Saraya - 2013-12-23

Quick update; my Iplayer is working except when attempting to watch live, BBC One in particular - stream gets stuck opening stream at around 80% and locks XBMC. Is this just pot luck sometimes?
I cannot get a log to pull down because it crashes XBMC.

All settings are default on version 2.5.1

I was removing some "unused" imports and it looks as though I accidently removed urllib which is still used from that file.

it can be added back to the top of the lib/iplayer2.py (import urllib) or wait until I push out a fix.

yep. try switching to limelight. akamai sometimes freezes. could be librtmp incompatibilities. if you wait long enough it might timeout (you can lower the timeout value in the advanced settings for the addon also).

v2.5.2 is available for download from http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-iplayerv2/downloads/list

just fixes the search - the version bump commit is not on svn yet, due to google code svn being down/broken at present.

Works a treat, thanks!
