Yeah, that'll work, thanks.

I have to make a MD5 hash of my 'addons.xml' (all my hosted add-ons 'addon.xml' contents in one file) so the update can trigger when there's a change of revision.

exobuzz Wrote:the folder should go in your "addons" folder, and it needs to be renamed to "plugin.video.iplayer". or just use hitchers repository which includes a version you can install/update automatically.

Thanks for that. Now have it installed from Hitchers repository. However when I try to run it I get a script failed error.

grumble.. windows differences. grumble. why would 'w' be in invalid mode.. works on linux and xbox!

are you able to go to line 69 in default.py where it says fh = open(filename, "w") and change it to fh = open(filename, "wb") and let me know if it works better ? (you or anyone else on windows)

Guess would have been my first choice Wink

Here is a log with the 'w' changed to wb' as requested:

well i dunno, it's not being able to write a file for whatever reason. I may or may not bother to install xbmc on windows to try and debug.. in the meantime, please try and older version. maybe the file its trying to write is locked or something odd. you could try commenting out the line file_write(VERSION_FILE, __version__)

You will need to compile xbmc with rtmp support enabled to be able to use the iplayer addon on OSX.

Thanks Chris, Thats the trouble with these super huge threads.

I have no idea how to compile so I am out the game!

garyi,

The latest nightly osx builds do work with this plugin, however the latest ubuntu ppa svn not so much. I don't know about windows

- garyi - 2010-08-09

The nightly I downloaded five days ago does not work with it, as soon as I click iplayer it jumps up with script error.
I'll try a more recent build

- exobuzz - 2010-08-09

script error might be something else

- Smiff - 2010-08-09

goddamn. just get an Xbox.
Even if it's just to run this plugin.
a Linux based system MIGHT be viable too (but at 5x the cost and time and questionable benefit).
Windows and MacosX? been there, wasted countless hours, still not working as well as the Xbox!
(thanks exobuzz)

Which version of the plugin are you using? I am using r32268 and I still get script error!!

Using Win 7 64-bit with Camelot and iPlayer version 2.0, usually works fine with the get_iplayer workaround. Rarely some entries won't start. Live TV does not work but that is not important for me.

Similarly have it working well for Suse 11.3 64-bit, Fedora 64-bit, Mandriva 2010 64-bit and Kubuntu 10.4 (32- and 64 bit) with iPlayer version 2.0 and the stable version of resp distro (8.11-1.pm.6.23, svn26017, 8.11-2.0mud and svn26018). Using version 2.78 of get_iplayer (e.g. not Mandrivas own version) and the latest release of rtmpdump.
