Do you have some evidence to back that up? Where can I find the specification?

- ultrabrutal - 2009-08-10

LPCM 7.1 is supported. It cannot output bitstream HD sound.

- butchjr - 2009-08-10

I think you can read about it on asrocks website. I guess you could google it Wink

I get drop outs in my sound when watching stuff and when I look in the log I get this

Does anyone know of a way to solve this?

- GrinRoth - 2009-08-17

I've got the exact same problem since updating to the latest svn (i'm using svn ppa), the previous version (one from about 2 weeks ago) didn't have this problem, or maybe i just didn't notice it then.
I'm running an XBMC-buntu like install..

Anyone knows how to solve this?

Why do you need to update the Nvidia driver in XBMC Live 9.04.1? I´m using it on a Asrock ION 330.

Btw, when I use "Auto" on resolution it works perfectly when I switch to it, but after a restart I only get a small screen on the top left, then I switch back to 1080p@24p and then back to Auto and it works.
Is there any way to fix this?

Caligo Wrote:After a few days fiddeling about (totally linux noob), i have finally gotten my HDMI audio working.. Even the menu sounds are 100% on my setup.

For those interested, my setup is like this

BIOS:
GPU share memory 512mb ram
OC CPU 2000mhz

XBMC Audio:
Digital output
No AC3
No DTS
output device "HDMI"
passthrough "HDMI"
no downmix

XBMC video:
render VDPAU
ajust refresh rate

the file ~/.asoundrc:

pcm.!default {
type asym
playback.pcm {
type plug
slave.pcm "hw:0,3"
}
}

finally, i had to run alsamixer from bash and make sure everything was unmuted.

This is the result of hours of try and fail, with info stolen from various resources. Im not really sure what is contributing to it working and what is not, so im just leaving it there until i do :-P every setting may or may not have some function
.

I sorry, but I'm a totaly new with Ubuntu/XBMC

I have no sound at my XBMC.. (Everything else is working)
I have XBMC standalone, with full ubuntu desktop.

Shoud this be put in the terminal or what?
Coud somebody please explain how to do it? (The text in red)

Does the Youtube script work for anyone on Asrock? I installed the latest with Winscp and it works, but video plays at double speed. Uitzending gemist works fine.

Ubunti + XBMC stable + Nvidia 1.85

The YouTube plugin from xbmc-addons works fine here.

kees667 Wrote:Where do you want sound? analog? digital? -toslink or hdmi?

I have connected the ION to the TV with HDMI cable.
The TV is connected to the receiver via analog, so I get sound from the PC
when playing mp3 etc (not with XBMC)

BUT: I want to use the S/PDIF, and the cable is connected directly from the ION330 to my Souround Receiver.(pioneer 7,1)
But there is no sound. (I want Souround Sound 5,1)
I have tryed a lot of things/changes (follow tips from this forum)
But I think I have to start all over with the sound.

in XBMC settings->audio->configure hardware:
Digital output
AC3
DTS
output device "default"
passthrough "iec958"

Still no sound....

I tryed to do this... Before my first tread..
Has this something to do with it?

ALSA config
------------------------------------
1) sudo alsamixer
Unmute and set volume (MM means muted and OO On)
Hit "m" to toggle mute on/off.
Do not forget to unmute HDMI if you are going to use that

2) Store Settings
sudo alsactl store 0

3) If any problem with store, remove pulse audio and try again
sudo apt-get remove pulseaudio

- blittan - 2009-08-27

Have you updated Alsa to the latest version (1.0.20) ?
