Been looking to get one of these, so close to parting with my cash! Looking to upgrade from my Xbox running XBMC to be able to run HD content, these look just the job!
Noticed that new BIOS posted on ASRock site today, thought people might be interested....

fdrzrich - interesting, I'll give it a spin and see what happens.
Edit: Okay just flashed the 1.40 bios and you now have a fan control menu with 6 options ranging from auto and then level 1-5 in terms of fixed fan speeds with ultrasilent being the lowest. I'm still happy with the auto setting.
There is also a memory bandwidth boost feature, not sure I recall seeing that before.
Oh and if you use the built in bios flash update tool it will reset any changes you made so you might want to set GPU RAM back to 512MB after.

Please Starstream, I read in another forum that you have a panasonic plasma, I have the panasonic that supports 1080p @ 24hz me too.
I have the ASRock connected to plasma in HDMI, so when I turn on the computer and load xbmclive my plasma says vga 1080i and not HDMI 1080p.Why..? your panasonic plasma does the same ..? .. it's normal or i have to setting something in the bios?

Yes I have Panasonic plasma not sure why yours is going to 1080i what is the model number of the TV ?
Also to enable 1080p@24Hz under XBMC Live you need to make some changes outlined here.
Edit: Over HDMI does yours actually say VGA 1080i on screen ?

my plasma is panasonic 58pz700 and support 1080@24hz because i have test with the tvix 6500 and mkv 1080p@24hz and plays very good..!
i try to enable 24hz with ubuntu, I did everything as the guide said with ubuntu,
but when I rebooted all in xbmclive there isn't voice 1080p @ 24hz, i dont know why.
but your plasma when you run xbmclive said hdmi 1080p..?

Well I just did a Google search on the model TV you own and according to reviews it does not [properly] support 1080p@24Hz so I'm not sure whats going on there.

Those are XBMC Live 9.04.1 with updated Nvidia drivers, the release on XBMC website has older Nvidia display drivers.
Your TV doesn't really support 1080p@24Hz so you may as well stick to resolutions XBMC supports by default.

you tink is better installing the older version of xbmclive, but that does not have the vdpau, how with 1080p mkv
they play good the same?

yes it does. there's an official XBMC Live 9.04.1 with "old" nvidia drivers that still supports VDPAU, and there's this "hacked" live image that has the newer nvidia beta drivers.
again, you are not supposed to fiddle around with XBMC live because most of the changes will screw the system up. when you really need to customize, use the XBMCbuntu guide for installation.

OK. I tried your tips. I get rid of pulseaudio driver. But nothing.
So I installed a fresh Ubuntu 9.04 (not NBR). Deleted the pulseaudio dirver. Updated the Alsa-Drivier via Script.
When I try to test the sound I got the following:

Il televisore non supporta il 1080p @ 24Hz. Che non cambierà nulla. Se hai ancora problemi con 9.04.1 utilizzare il nuovo driver Nvidia e vedere se qualcosa cambia.
Oppure provare il rilascio ufficiale di XBMC in diretta sul sito web XBMC con VDPAU vecchi driver, ma è ancora supportato, ma le prestazioni non è così buona, senza nuovi driver.

I am trying now for days to install Ubuntu 9.04 and XBMC on the ASRock. I don't want to use the XBMC-Live cause of installing other programs (etc SABnzbd). I installed the latest Nvidia Drivers an everything works fine except the sound via hdmi.
When I use the XBMC-Live from this threat, sound via HDMI works perfect. What is the difference to a standard installation like mine?
As the ASRock is a great PC for using XBMC, it would be nice, if someone who has a running system, can provide a step by step howto for setting up Ubuntu and XBMC with working HDMI Sound on the ASRock. (I'm not talking about a XBMC-Live Setup).
I'm sure others will also be glad about this.
