on the imdb note i would love to see a 10 star rating instead of 5 as now. maybe do halves too. would that be a xbmc feature or skin feature?

i'm not talking about flags. if, i would have called them flags.

TEXT info.

your request for rating would have to go to the xbmc trac.
i doubt they will change it, but give it a try. personally, i would go for half star rating, as 10 stars are simply too much to display at once.

i knew one would come up with them Rolleyes

in fact, the moving of the flags is a result of ongoing feature requests in
a) removing the floor texture and
b) make the coverflow bigger.

by respecting this, we do not want to have flags lying around anywhere else on the screen, so they became part of the info window. and in general, that's where they belong, because that's also some kind of info.

i don't really find it that hard to push my trigger when i would like to know about the quality of a movie file.

ok, in general just think about what is really neccessary to decide to watch a movie.. here is my priority list:

high priority:

1. the title. always visible. i want to know the name of the movie for sure.
2. the runtime. how long does it take me to watch?
3. the genre. what kind of movie is it?

not so high priority:

4. the year. is it an old or a new movie?
5. the rating (mpaa, not imdb) - can i watch this with my son?

low priority

6. the plot
7. the flags

both can be seen by bringing the info window in, as that is exactly what it is for.

absolutely unneccessary:

8. imdb rating. even if one million ppl rate a movie excellent, chances are i think that movie is crap.
9. written by, directed by. nice info, but not neccessary for my decision if i want to watch a movie or not.

of course thats just MY priority list, but i find this also pretty logical.

imagine we could display max 4 of them without the info window, and title is already one of them. my top prio ones are the ones to fill in in my world.

but thats why i ask you for your priorities.

i dont care about imbd rating... i make my own rating in my head... for me, the imbd rating is not really needed... maybe in the info screen in small letters...

the most important things for me is title, genre, runtime, year!

exactly what i just told about some minutes ago.

For some reason it says 1.71, but I took the file directly from the git site.

What am I doing wrong that it isn't loading the most updated version?

I have never installed Showmix previously.

- zwat - 2009-10-19

yea i partly agree with u. should be no discussion that the title should be there since some movies don't have posters with title. genre is important to see what style u could expect it to be.
i don't let the runtime decide if i wanna see it. so i don't feel it should be that high on the list. feel the same about year.
i don't care at all about the age rating as i don't have kids, but i see ur point.
i see ur point on the good imdb ratings, but i'm more interested in the low rated movies. if 10000 rate it as 2 i probably wont like it either.

what do u mean with bigger coverflow? wider or higher? i would like to see more fanart so just the coverflow not too high and flags if possible and rest of info\picture triggered.

the vast majority told us they miss the old showcase view with the big coverflow thumbs.

hmm.. but be honest: isn't that more likely an indication for you to get your copy of that movie firsthand before you even add it to your library?

i doubt you download/buy everything, do the work to get it into xbmc and afterwards only watch those that meet your imdb rating criteria.
