thetvdb is down for now - outleradam - 2009-11-15

Thetvdb.com is down. Here is the thread.

THIS NO LONGER WORKS
If you can't wait, find and replace all entries in /usr/share/xbmc/system/scrapers/video/ thetvdb.xml which refer to thetvdb.com with
thetvdb.senseitweb.com

I just tried that, unfortunately it doesn't work. The scraper won't find anything for any series title I enter. It seems this "senseitweb.com" site uses a different or broken API. The URLs under http://thetvdb.senseitweb.com/api/ return several error messages.

Yeah, shame that. Doesn't work at all. Never seen TVDB go down for this long. Definately need to get all their content backed up and put somewhere else on the web, where the scrapers still work.

Yeah it worked for a few times for me, then it stopped in the middle of my update. sorry, this was 0 day information.

Sad state of affairs. Are there any other scrapers out there that work well? thetvdb was the only one of all those that shipped with xbmc that actually ever worked for me.

just wait a bit to let tvdb staff work.
it will be back.

I'm sure it will.

Still it would be preferrable if there was an independent mirror site for the information.

I'm operating a rootserver and might be able to set up a mirror, though currently it probably doesn't have sufficient disk space to hold a project like tvdb. I'm planning a serious upgrade soon, then there might be a chance. Smile

it seems that they've already planned to use mirror.

Back online but my show's still won't scrape?

- djrlosthisname - 2009-11-17

Happy I'm not the only one. I guess it's only a matter of time now though.

I just installed a fresh copy of XBMC over the weekend and the wife is harassing me about not having TV shows so I have to keep switching Library off.

Thetvdb is down again - Captain_Morgan - 2009-11-17

After returning online for a short while the site appears to be down again. Whilst it was up, no scraping was available. Lets hope when it comes back up next time all scraping will work.

Thanks

Waiting patiently Huh

Hey guys a heads up, its actually working.
Only for some reason they deleted all the unpopular tvshows out of the system so we only can download the most popular zip files with there xml's for now.

If we change the scraper to download the banners.xml and etc. it works like a charm...
