pls support TouchBB for iPhone - ctawn - 2009-12-02

There's a cool new iPhone app for reading phpBB forums.

supporting it is apparently a matter of adding a script:

thanks.

edit:

apparently it doesn't support vBulletin yet but seems like they're close to doing so. please keep an eye out:

There's already an iphone app for vbulletin forums. Search for Tapatalk on the app store and on vbulletin.org for the plugin.

Works really well and makes browsing forums a lot quicker.

that's cool, maybe i'll try it out. but i already bought touchBB, and ultimately wouldn't you prefer one app to handle all forum types rather than one for each type?

In any case, there's no harm supporting multiple such clients for the forum admins. in either case it seems you have to install a script/extension. a beta script for vBulletin is already available for touchBB:

in the meantime how 'bout support for tapatalk? I have it and it's a great little app.

Bump...?

Is any of these two iphone apps (taptalk, touchBB) supported by xbmc.org forums? I suppose not yet.

I use taptalk (it supports multiple software) and it is really much nicer than browsing forums via Safari. Any chance to get xbmc.org forums working with one of these two (or maybe both)?

Thanks!

Actually maybe tapatalk should be the way to go. It is on iphone and android, plus blackberry and nokia is comming.

Three steps to have it on xbmc are easy and drescribed here:

Please admins + moderators: let us consider this. Reading the forums on smartphones via browsers really sucks. Having a native app reading the forum on the go is a very nice addition to forum.xbmc.org. Hope some of you are reading this post.

Probably not any time soon. Getting tired of vbulletin and its restrictions, as well as those of inherited plugins. Looking into other options.

edit: specifically from tapatalk license: "Modifications to the Software are prohibited."

Yeah, but installing tapatalk doesn't modify *anything* in vBulletin, save for a couple of lines in the footer, which you could remove in... 20 seconds. I've installed it last week in a forum I run and it's really handy on the go.

Hey TheUni,

thanks for taking the time to have a look on this. I still think it would be worth, as changes will not be done on taptalk itself, but on vbulletin.

Despite being proprietary, closed-source, tapatalk is available in Iphone, Android, which makes it more likeable.

Overall, I think such a change would be positive. At least all iphone and android owners could have a *much* better way of reading the forum while on the go.

Hope you find some time to implement it.

Cheers.

rbonon.

after using both for a few months, tapatalk is the way to go.

pls implement it soon. taptalk peeps say it takes like 10 minutes to install. and as above, their license is not saying anything about your own forum software I'm quite sure, and if you have any concerns at all i'm sure those peeps will meet your needs -- they want people to adopt it.
