no u must use the setup from broadcom

Just got mine in the mail, plugged it in and Windows doesn't do the usual New Hardware found thing?

I suspect the card might be cactus.

Ok, thanks - That's good news, I'll give it go tonight.

Windows found mine and popped up the add hardware wizard.

I've got mine in an Acer Revo 3610, so it's an Nvidia ION chipset.

Ok, downloaded the DX build (the first with Crystal HD support) and tried it. First movie, perfect. Getting optimistic. Then... subsequent files... only problems.

I think it would be helpful if one of the devs could write some sort of list of known problems, so we could focus testing the rest of the stuff. VC-1 straight rips from HD-DVD (Planet Earth series, the source of the original killa sample) produced a black screen with sound. But probably VC-1 is still not working (although the OSD mentioned the bvc1 decoder being in use). Other files played very slow, others were not getting hw decoding (but that could be due to the profile used).
It would be great if this could somehow detect non DXVA compliant files (maybe it's not DXVA, well... CrystalHD compliant) material and move decoding to CPU.

In any case, I'm available for testing... just need to know what's worth testing and what's useless.
Cheers and thanks for this great development. I have a feeling that in the long run this will be a far easier solution to manage than DSplayer (another great development for sure, not to be misunderstood in what I'm saying).

I'm also having some audio sync issues.

Windows 7 x86, ION board.

Any tips on resolving that?

Way to vague a description Smile Get specific.

Have you seen this yet? http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=69384

As I get verified specific issues, they get posted there.

Point #1 pretty much describes my issue. Can't confirm the shift is 200ms, though. Any way I can check that out?

As far as my system specs:
ZOTAC IONITX-F-E Intel Atom 330 (1.6GHz, dual-core)
2GB dual channel RAM
320GB Hard Drive (everything runs from that drive: XBMC, movie files, OS)
Windows 7 x86 (up to date)
xbmc-r27349-trunk.exe
Latest Broadcom drivers (as of 2010-02-02)

Given that other people are having the same issue, I doubt the problem is related to the hardware.

Let me know if you need logs, or any other information to help out.

anyone help a noobie out?

got the Revo 3610 with 64-bit Windows 7

put the Boadcom card in, downloaded and installed the drivers, but XBMC isn't giving me an option to select the card

Windows detected new hardware, but not sure if it has installed it properly. So:-

1. how can tell in Windows if it has installed it (couldn't see it under 'devices' installed)

2. how to get the option in XBMC to select it?

I've tried lastest Xbmc Camelot, plus two other versions of XBMC, but still nothing

thanks

You need a version not older than three days ago, if I'm not mistaken. Your best bet is downloading the latest nightly build available from the main website. http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/win32/

It currently is SVN 27422. That definitely has support for CrystalHD.

thanks a lot - will give it a go tonight

- DrMedia - 2010-02-03

Installed 27394 yesterday, after installing the CrystalHD and drivers...

Had mixed success with the decoder and also dxva.. some films will play fine, but several are very pixellated, blocky and colour is all over the place...

Got much lower cpu usage using dxva though, so gutted I just bought the crystal hd, with pcie adapter cost me £30!!

Hopefully performance will get better with new builds.. but things generally looking good!!!

One question for Davilla. As DrMedia I bought the broadcom card and I already have an ATI 4890. Is CrystalHD more... tolerant... toward L5.1 encodes and encodes with out of spec reference frames? Compared to the ATI implementation of DXVA I mean.
