Thanks for that.. cant find any in UK, and im not prepared to part nearly $50 just for an adapter and delivery!!!

That would make the crystalhd and adaptor cost around $80 or about £55!!

Yes I bought me a Crystal HD card not because I need it but to get it running. And please don't think we always have everything for testing at home. I don't own a second monitor, nor a 1080 tv, nor digital audio equipment etc.
Wiso, if I gave you an Acer AspireRevo would NVIDIA ION support be available in the near future? I could make that happen.

If the short bracket isn't a problem you can buy this

Nice find Smile It will even handle the 1/2 sized mini pci-e. Wink, wink.

The problem is that, in that case, to properly use the ION hardware acceleration you would need to develop a DirectShow based player, there's no VDPAU under Windows.

Thanks for the offer but I'm the wrong to ask. I hope for DXVA in future and think it's only a matter of time.

jhsrennie Wrote:Did you run the setup.exe fom the driver download or did you just install the driver from Device Manager? If the latter, XBMC won't see the card as it needs libraries installed by setup.exe.

Also are you using x64 or x86 Windows? I'm not sure if it will work on x64 Windows.

If you turn debug logging on the log file will tell you whether XBMC is using the Crystal HD.

JR

I haven't had the time to diagnose further yet, but to answer your question, it is Windows 7 x86 and I used setup.exe to install the Crystal HD drivers. This was a fresh install of Windows, the only other software I installed was Comodo Firewall and antivirus. I have had different versions of XBMC installed and uninstalled. I will have some time over the weekend so I will turn debug logging on.

Pictures of my Desktop PCIe CrystalHD Card Version and infos - zyxel13 - 2010-01-15

Hello,

today I received the following :

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250515308995&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

and

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320436937576&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

The Carrier and MiniPCIex work good together in my Test HTPC

Here a few Pictures :

Playing a h264 compressed m2ts file gives me the following result with svn 26880dx:
it decodes the h264 Full HD video, w very low cpu usage but.... the video fills out only the upper half of the Screen(and its almost Black and White),
the lower half of the screen is green....... and after the file finishes, CBMC crashes...see screenshot:
http://www.grsnet.net/xbmc/crystalhd000-dx.png

here the Debug Log for the above:

Playing the same h264 compressed m2ts file gives me the following result with svn 26880gl:

Using the above GL version setting the Crystal HD as the renderer,
it decodes the h264 Full HD video great(great colors, very low cpu),
but.... the video fills out only the upper half of the Screen, the lower half of the screen is green.......
...see screenshots:
http://www.grsnet.net/xbmc/crystalhd000-gl.png

here the Debug Log for the above:

Konstantin

"but.... the video fills out only the upper half of the Screen, the lower half of the screen is green......."

yes, the deinterlacing of interlaced video content. known issue.

Hi Davilla,

thankyou for your reply.
Is this a Issue or a missconfiguration from my side ?

Why does the DX version also work (at least somehow) with the Crystalhd ?
The problem is that when the CrystalHD Card is in the HTPC , the DX version crashes....

You want me to make any test with my setup ?

Cheers,
Konstantin

Opps, missed that "Platform: Windows XP", thought it was Linux. The DX version crashes sometimes because the render assumes YV12 and the CrystalHD decoder outputs NV12. YV12 has three planes (y, u, and v), NV12 has two (y and uv packed). If renderer assumes YV12 and tries to access the 3rd plane, it might die.

No tests needed until DX version gets fixed.

I thought I would post my configuration and my quick initial findings...
* Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
* Old AMD 4600 Dual Core Duo w/3GB RAM
* POWERCOLOR AX3650 1GBD2-V2 Radeon HD 3650 1GB 128-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card $37 USD ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131169 )
* BroadCom BCM970012 Mini PCI-e HD Decoder Chipset 4 UMPC $22 USD ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320436937576 ) - 64-bit driver
* Mini PCIe to PCIe adapter $16 USD ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170422041954 )
* XBMCSetup-Rev26880-gl.exe

I've only done some quick preliminary testing on a couple of 1080p mkv movies that start to stutter within seconds, but ran smooth as silk with the above configuration.

Thanks to all that are doing all the hard work with making XBMC happen, and those that shared their XBMC setup info in this thread!

daverx7, I'm not sure I get what you mean.

The couple of 1080p mkv movies start to stutter without CrystalHD and run smooth as silk with CrystalHD? Is that what you meant?
