Hoping I can switch back to windows too Big Grin

None exist that I know of.

johnw Wrote:I downloaded and installed XBMCSetup-Rev26459-gl.exe for my REVO R3610. I won't start properly, it will display the splash screen and then Windows returns an error that XBMC has stopped. I proceeded to download XBMCSetup-Rev26307-gl.exe and that installs and runs, but does not give me Crystal HD as an option, just Auto, Basic, Advanced and Software.

I have a REVO R3610 with Windows 7 Home Premium. The Crystal HD drivers are installed from the Broadcom site and hardware manager lists it.

did you ever get this working? i'm having the exact same issue. i see the splash screen and then windows tells me xbmc has stopped responding.

26880-gl
3.1.0 crystal hd drivers (which are the latest according to: http://www.broadcom.com/support/crystal_hd/) installed via setup.exe
windows 7 32-bit

edit: i've also got the xbmc_crashlog-20100122-184110.dmp files if that would be any help.

A600, i saw you are having directshow issues with the latest drivers. do you have an older driver version sitting around you could maybe upload somewhere for me to try?

edit 2: i found an earlier version of the driver here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-71961-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=3943766
i renamed the bcmDIL.dll that installed with 3.1.0 and copied the bcmDIL.dll (version 2.7.0.44 according to windows) in its place. this got rid of the xbmc crashing, however i don't have a crystal hd render option and auto, not surprisingly, just does software decoding.

Dell Studio Hybrid + Crystal HD = No Video In XBMC - Tuckerdude - 2010-01-24

Hi there....

I'm not sure if anyone else has had this problem, but here goes. I have successfully added the Crystal HD card to my freshly installed Win 7 32 bit Dell Studio Hybrid PC. Installed the latest Broadcom drivers and getting silky smooth 1080p playback when using Media Player Classic Home Cinema.

But when I try to play a 1080p MKV in XBMC I don't get any video (I can hear the movie playing). I am using the latest gl installer that I could find (Rev26880-gl) and ensured that the Broadcom Crystal HD is set in the Playback Render Method screen of the settings menu.

Any ideas or suggestions would be very helpful!

Many Thanks!

Acer Revo + Broadcom CrystalHD MiniPCI trip report:

short version: It works awesome.

longer version:

Steps to reproduce the awesome
1.) Buy a Broadcom crystalhd bcm70012 minipci card for ~$20.00 If it comes from Hong Kong like mine did, and you live in the middle of the US, be prepared to wait several weeks.

2.) Open up your Revo and remove the wireless NIC.

3.) Put the Broadcom card in it's place.

4.) Install the drivers from Broadcom.

5.) Make sure you're running the latest OpenGL SVN version of XBMC.

6.) Enjoy playing HD videos at less than 15-20% CPU usage under Windows 7 64-bit with the XBMC native player.

I haven't tested everything I've got because I've got hundreds of HD films and TV shows, but the smattering I've tried work fine. I know it's possible to encode HD files that this won't accelerate, but so far I haven't run across any.

For the time it takes you might as well give it a try.

GL does indeed have wasapi!

Thank you for making this so easy! My card should be here sometime this week.. I can't wait to try it out; VDPAU doesn't work with 1024x576 video and I want to run Windows so I can use some other programs too.

This card is the greatest thing to happen to XBMC in a while.

Does it also work in combination with HQ OpenGL HW (GPU) upscaler from Bobo1on1?

Lanczos 3 optimized is awesome with SD movies. I would like to know if the Revo in combination with CrystalHD can handle that.

Has anyone been successful in compiling a recent GL build of the SVN? The last two or three days have failed. I am trying to figure out if it is something I have done.

No clue. Is the HQ OpenGL upscaler available in SVN?

Yes, in Ikons latest GL build for Windows: http://danielpatton.com/user-accounts/XBMC-updates/ikons/XBMCSetup-Rev26880-gl.exe

Hi All,

I just purchased an HP mini 311 with win XP and installed the broadcom card with the latest broadcom drivers and latest openGL SVN build and must say this is very impressive. I get silky smooth 1080P playback with 10 - 20% cpu utilization. I only tried a hand full of bluray rips and will continue to test. I'll keep you all posted.

- aXeR - 2010-01-28

I got mine today and installed it into my Aopen MP45-DR which is currently running Windows 7.

CPU usage on my 'The Dark Knight' RIP has dropped from 60-70% CPU right down to 10-20% but for some reason I'm getting terrible blotchyness and lag on 1080 rips which I don't get on 720 rips.

I'm currently using XBMCSetup-Rev26880-gl.exe and have tried revision before that too.

Any ideas anyone?

blotchyness == macroblocking ?

Are these BD rips with no transcoding ?

- aXeR - 2010-01-28

Going by the description given here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macroblock then yes this looks like the problem.

How do I go about finding if the rips have no transcoding?

Thanks for your reply Davilla Smile

Use MediaInfo, there's a version for all platforms (osx, linux, windows). MediaInfo is the first thing I use when investigating probematic video files as it gives me a way to qualify the video encoding method.
