New to ubuntu and XBMC for Linux - PPA issue - DigitALL - 2010-01-07 Hello friends, I have just installed ubuntu at the latest upgrade and very happy with it. I am a noob with linux. I have followed step by step installation of XBMC for linux at Wiki page. Everything went fine up to step "Adding PPA Keys". When importing the key posted as per wiki page in Software Sources / Authentication it gives me error: The selected file may not be a GPG key or it might be corrupt. The posted key on the wiki is: Code: mI0ESXWBBAEEAM5zE6qzPJ0Xn8KQQCB14OD9EyCieF5yjpt7PlLDUXkojjguVGgZ+skcklbF then I thought that the last five characters with a break line is not correct and made another file as: Code: mI0ESXWBBAEEAM5zE6qzPJ0Xn8KQQCB14OD9EyCieF5yjpt7PlLDUXkojjguVGgZ+skcklbF The result was the same. Please help me out to finish installing XBMC. Thank you for reading this message. - trolly - 2010-01-07 From the XBMC wiki Installing XBMC Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic or higher If you are using Ubuntu 9.10 or higher, you have the option of a more streamlined install. Load the terminal window and issue the following (The $ is a standard substitute for your terminal prompt): $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc $ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install xbmc $ sudo apt-get update You do not need to add the XBMC Repo nor the PPA Keys. XBMC is already installed. |
