Ok, I have found time to test your skin modification for the panel views for programs... and... as you can see... it is perfect. Laugh

Thank you very very much to have taking the time to do it. Thank you also for all your work on your skin !!!! Nod

Hitcher,

Small inconsistency in my humble opinion: I've chosen to activate the "Enable 'Artists' for Music" option so I'm by default navigating via the artists rather than the albums. However, the 'Album' view is also missing from the submenu options of the music icon, so there's no direct access anywhere to the albums.

Easiest fix seems to be adding an album access in the submenu (and the option to hide it for those who feel like it).

Thanks,

T.

How can I use Custom Home Icons for the Horizontal Home Layout? I have enabled the option "Enable Custom Home Icons" from the settings, and I've put my .png icons in skin.alaska.revisited\extras\customicons\ but no icons show up, not even the default ones. I am using the naming convention mentioned in the readme.txt, e.g. "music.png".

Try "musicicon.png", etc. I know that this may have been changed.

Nope, did not fix it. If I have "use custom icons" enabled, both the Icon Home style and Horizontal Home don't have any icons. I have both the music.png and musicicon.png at the same time. I've also tried the other icons and tried using different picture files.

I dug the repository a bit and noticed that the original icons reside in /media/homelist (http://skin-alaska-revisited.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/media/homelist/), so as an old game modder, I took a shot in the dark and created a homelist folder under my skin.alaska.revisited/media and put the icons there as well. Nope, didn't work. Sad

Also, I stumbled across a bug in the Horizontal Home Style. The name of the highlighted item (e.g. "Movies") should be slighty more brighter than the ones that are not selected. But if you scroll around once, the highlighted text will use the same color as the unselected ones. If you scroll once more to the same direction, it starts working again.

I tried this with both a Windows version and with the Linux version and can't make it happen. Tried scrolling either direction, tried multiple themes, tried both horizontal and vertical lists. Please post two screenshots to see it because perhaps I don't exactly know what you are describing.

This should never work, if you look at the code in Include_HomeIcon.xml you will see it specifically calls for videos.png, music.png, trailers.png, tvshows.png, pictures.png, weather.png, addons.png, settings.png, shutdown.png, favourites.png, profiles.png as well as playdisc.png. It looks for all of those in special://skin/extras/customicons/ which symbolizes different locations based on version installed, in Linux it's easy because it /home/xbmc/.xbmc/addons/skin.alaska.revisited/extras/customicons/ in Windows there is the SystemDrive/Users/username/AppData/Roaming/xbmc/addons/skin.alaska.revisited/extras/customicons/ with SystemDrive where you installed Windows (usually C:/) and username being the currently logged in Windows user.

One thing I am not sure of, if you are using the Linux version (you don't specify) usually Linux requires that file names be precise matches including case. In Windows Music.png=music.PNG=music.png but in Linux it doesn't.

You've probably got a lot off items hidden and for some reason this messes up wraplists.

Here you are:

http://www.students.tut.fi/~seppan25/homemenu_bugging.jpg

I noticed it only happens if you have 3 or less items in home menu. 4 or more and it does not happen (i.e. works right). I am only using movies, tv shows and music.

So if you constantly scroll right:
Music (working)
Movies (working)
TV Shows (working)
Music (bugging)
Movies (bugging)
TV Shows (bugging)
Music (working)
Movies (working)
TV Shows (working)
etc.

EDIT: Yup, Hitcher.

Yup, I'm running XP with latest stable XBMC and latest Alaska, and I put the files into:
C:\Documents and Settings\HTPC\Application Data\XBMC\skin.alaska.revisited\extras\customicons

As I suspected.

I don't know why XBMC does this but it appears to happen when the same item is visible more than once on the screen. Try showing one more item and see what happens.

Like I said, it works if you show 4 or more but not with 3 or less. It's no biggie, I can put weather or pictures back. But what about the icons, I'm pretty sure they're in the right directory with right names. Any more info I could give to help solve this?

Maybe a debug log will help but there's no reason I can think of for it not to work.

I have "music.png", "movies.png" and "tvshows.png" but not "weather.png" just as a test. Still, they both spawn the same error message.

Not a permission problem is it?
