I am in the process of uploading chd_stutter_after_b2.mkv to your ftp site, its slow its about 2.7G so will take some time to get it you.

I have uploaded a file

choppyplayback_works_on_Beta2.mkv

on your ftp site. This should present the issue, i am working on getting you a larger file, where the problem is more apparent

I am using the BCM970015 card as well

- vajonam - 2010-11-30

I have also found this.

http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/10776

- vajonam - 2010-11-30

speaking to some devs on irc.. it appears this issue has been fixed post rc1

http://trac.xbmc.org/changeset/35341

i am building from the tip to test it now

EDIT: This works on r35551 of the Dharma branch. I guess its not related to CHD, but seems to manifest itself more when using CHD vs VDPAU.. why that is I haven't been able to find

Stuttering video with CHD on Dharma RC1 - nhesson - 2010-12-02

Long time lurker...

I've installed a 70015 in an AppleTV and I'm seeing major stuttering with DVD rips. Video fps drops between 10-20 but the audio plays back fine.

I'm running CrystalBuntu using Pin78's image and have updated to r174 of the CHD driver and Dharma RC1

If I turn off CrystalHD then it plays back fine. Other 720P MKV files play back fine with CHD enabled.

I get the same functionality when I'm running Dharma RC1 on the OS X side of the AppleTV as well.

Hopefully I've borked something in the settings but I don't remember this happening with Beta1 or Beta2 (can't say for sure about Beta3 or Beta4).

TIA

I just installed a 70015 card on my atv yesterday, check this thread.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=69321

Worked like a charm.

- nhesson - 2010-12-02

What version of the CHD driver did you use?

My hunch is that it is an issue with the encoding of the file.

- Abbyjack - 2010-12-02

Hate to have to post this but I'm having the same problem as before with the latest release. (RC2) ATV and BCM70015

CrystalHD is not being recognized in RC1 or RC2, with either old or new driver.

Works fine in both beta3 and beta4

Since RC1 I haven't had the settings option to do hardware acceleration. Same in RC2. I've tried reinstalling the driver from Launcher and restarting. Still nothing.

Problem using broadcom crystalhd BMC70015 decoder in XBMC - msami - 2010-12-03

A quick update for my situation, I updated to RC2 and downgraded to r161 at the same time and my issue went away. I'm going to test a 1080p file later and see if I can play that back smoothly.

Seeing the same issue that I reported earlier when using the XBMC betas with a MakeMKV rip of Batman Begins. I hear audio, but see no video when using CrystalHD 70015 with the r174 driver. Plays fine when I don't use the CrystalHD card.

Saving Private Ryan used to play smoothly at 24fps with the Dharma betas (I just tried B2 again, but it worked fine with B4, too), but it's now jumpy with RC1. I can see both audio and video with RC1, but it drops a bunch of frames periodically and appears to be trying to play it at 20fps, rather than 24fps.

xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/RtuCaiXc
dmesg: http://pastebin.com/pXDZYdNB
100MB clip: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7619655/Saving%20Private%20Ryan%20Fragment.mkv

Both movies were ripped straight from the Blu Ray using MakeMKV 1.6.2, and play fine in VLC and in XBMC without using the CrystalHD card.

This 20fps issue is affecting normal H.264 HD TV shows, too. I get nice, smooth playback without the CrystalHD card at ~24fps, but as soon as I turned on CrystalHD support, it tries to play the video back at 20fps, and appears to throw away 4 frames every second.

Rob

I'm still seeing precisely these same issues with RC2. Am I just doing something wrong, or are the videos in a format that's troublesome for the CrystalHD? Would more info help?

I'm not sure if I should bother collecting more logs, or just leave CrystalHD disabled on my setup.

Thanks,
Rob

I'm experiencing exactly the same with a BCM970015. Did some testing with the Dharma betas.
Beta2 files play fine (although the edges look aliased)
Beta3, Beta4 and svn trunk r35611 all show choppy (20 FPS) playback but the image is much clearer.

Looks like the change was between Beta2 and Beta3!

Tried with both crystalhd-for-osx-3.6.0 and crystalhd-for-osx-3.8.0.

[quote=estanol]I am also having trouble getting it to work on Snow Leopard. I have two systems Mac Pro and MacBook Pro both running SL. I have installed Kaspersky, activated, updated, setup preferences, etc. Yet "Protection is not installed".

Any ideas?

Yea, you need to pay more attention to the thread topic as nothing you have said make any sense.
