Determine which items were not successfully added to library - bradvido88 - 2010-04-26

I love library mode for my music/videos, but it bugs me that when i have a file that doesn't get scanned successfully, it is simply ignored (and forgot about by me).... Is there any way to easily find the files that haven't been added to the library and iterate though them, fixing them so they get scanned properly instead of being ignored?

They are definitely listed in a debug log, but I'm not sure if they are listed in standard log though. You'll get something that says 'not added to the database, no nfo found Sad'

Hmm... I'm guessing there is no way to set XBMC up to prompt you when it tries to add a file and fails?
That would be ideal, but if there is no way to do it, maybe I'll suggest it on trac.
Is this something others are interested in, or do you guys not have the same problem as I do?

Xbmc does not provide any notification whatsoever within the GUI.

What I did was go into the files view, and use a view type that displays the cover art. Then just flip through the list and anything that doesn't have a thumb is probably not in the library, or it's a special case. Either way it can help you find rogue movies and stuff.

I've been using the same method. It just seems pretty user-unfriendly...
Although I think most XMBC users are geek'd out enough to figure this out.
Oh well. It's something that bugs me but i can live with.
