Update the driver. The BCM70015 was not in G/A stage when the images were constructed

- Philmatic - 2010-09-23

^ Speaking of which, can we look forward to another build when Dharma goes gold?

- Sam.Nazarko - 2010-09-23

Yes, Pin87a and I will do a joint release with auto updating

That's cool!
Two things I really miss from the linux version are:
ProjectM visualizations
Music crossfading capablilities

Is it possible to include in future release?
And, of course, THANKS!

defiler Wrote:Got to ressurect an old problem here. It worked great on the original image (28256?), but since then it's never worked properly. My old post on it is way back here.

Basically, VC1 videos have the aq% drop to zero, and a/v numbers are way out of whack. When the playback starts, the sound comes through fine for about 20/30 secs, but the video is a bit jerky. The aq% drops to zero during this time, and then I get about 4fps on the video.

I've chucked the mediainfo up on pastebin here.

I've ignored it for the past 6 weeks or so because we were running through SVNs, but I'm on Dharma beta 2 and CrystalHD R157 so it looks like it'll still be a problem for the release.

Yes, I know VC1 is aiming high, but it's a low bitrate movie for VC1. I've transcoded some of my videos to AVC with HandBrake, but doing subtitles is a pig. No, I don't need subtitles with 2001, but being low(ish) bitrate it should be the easiest to get running. (After all, it ran on Pin's original image.)

So, I'm sitting here, smashed up after crashing my motorbike, and wanting to watch some of my movies - if someone can get me going, that'd be excellent because I'm sick of daytime TV! If it'd help to get a 2-minute clip of the video for testing, let me know and I'll chop out a section later today.

Get unbent soon. Davilla directed me here to report problem video files : http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=70537

Superb. There's a whole bunch of people here who are reaping the rewards from your efforts. Auto updating will be a real boon for what I imagine is your main user base i.e. apple tv & crystal hd owning linux noobs

thanks in advance

Hi Sam,
First of all many thanks for your hard work. I specifically purchased an apple tv to use with Pin87 version of your image. By going through all posts I've got almost everything working.
The only thing I'm struggling with is updating atvclient to the latest version, and use option of multi remote.

I followed the instructions on 'install atvclient on ubuntu'.
I have a simple question: in what directory is atvclient installed? Can I use the update ( git fetch)?
I tried following the whole install, but got stuck at adding Options="-m" to atvclient in /etc/default.
After that it didnt work and I started all over again; fresh usb stick. I first did sudo -s to install atvclient to the root: bad idea as it just blinks and no remote is working.

Can you please point me in the right direction?
Many thanks!

I have frontrow install in my first aTV. After seeing this thread, I have Sam's 6.4.27 image installed on a flash drive that seems to work with the second aTV that has never been hacked. But the first aTV that has frontrow inside does not boot from the crystalbuntu flash drive, so how do I change the startup disk to the flash drive?

Can someone point me in the right direction. I am trying to run the following:

Code:
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-bin_2:10.00~svn33778-hardy1_i386.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-data_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-live_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-skin-confluence_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-standalone_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc-web_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb
wget --no-check-certificate https://edge.launchpad.net/~team-xbmc-svn/+archive/ppa/+files/xbmc_10.00~svn33778-hardy1_all.deb

And I keep on getting 404 errors. Doest anyone see where im falling over.

Pin87a's image is separate to mine. Perhaps he can help, see atvclient release notes for more advice. This is all I can suggest, sorry.

Try Hold Menu and - after inserting USB to force scan of external devices.

I understand. What is the benefit (or difference) to use your image? I understand it has the full Ubuntu desktop, does this mean it's possible to edit files in a window rather then a shell? I'm a complete linux noob, I can enter codes though Smile but if yours is using a window version that might be easier.

You should now be able to do an apt-get update and apt-get upgrade to get onto the current beta. Save faffing with the wgets and dpkg.

I had a perfectly working system until my harddrive died, so I started from scratch again and now have an internal hardrive install of pin's image fully updated to Dharma Beta 2 and CrystalHD-R156.

However, now everytime I go to play 720p or higher content I get non-crystalhd style decoding. Worryingly I get dmesg items about insufficient resources everytime I attempt to play something.

The crystalHD card is found on boot and started up... but I'm worried my bcm700012 (old-layout) card is shafted!

My full dmesg output:
http://pastebin.com/e4jCbMnZ

Plus, pretty obviously, when playing 720p+ content top shows 99.9% cpu. Free shows that the swap file is being used by the system.

Please Davilla, tell me it's either an easily solved bug, or I've been a numpty with a setting!

Jim

PS where are the xbmc logs found under the linux build? Am having to get used to the fact that everything's in a different place now...

Great news...

May I suggest a few points that would be nice improvements...
- Navigation sounds
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=598226&postcount=965
- Have parted installed to partition AppleTV HD or a new HD
http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=604349&postcount=1021
- Maybe a script to partition and copy.

"clock is moving to 175 with n 35 with vco_mg 2", old driver.

re-install the current crystalhd driver/lib.
