XBMC 31321 & 31009 hangs when starting movie - sefu - 2010-06-23

I updated from the official release to the newer builds recentely.

I have set up a share to my nas drive for my movies and tv shows.

The tv shows work but some of my movies don't work on the newer builds, it just hangs on "working..." before I have to ctr alt del it

I have no problems with the official build. Is there something I can do to fix it?

- chunk1982 - 2010-06-23

im using build 31321 and i dont have these problems at all, everything works nice
did you do a fresh install or just install over the top? iv read people talking about random problems they have if they installed over the top but dont once they did a fresh install

- sefu - 2010-06-23

I did a install ontop.

Where do I go to save my configurations?

- chunk1982 - 2010-06-23

during the uninstall process there is a box that is UNTICKED that says also delete userdata

LEAVE THIS UNTICKED!!

this will keep your userdata folder, where all your config settings are

also make sure your graphica drivers are upto date this always helps

- sefu - 2010-06-24

Thanks for that.

I uninstalled the last version, updated the vid driver, restarted and installed the latest build but still no luck.

Here is a snippet of the log of a failed movie. Not all movies fail, most of my movies are in avi

I have exactly the same problem as the original poster, it's also in the SVN build 31349. It only happens though when you start the movie from the "library" mode, not from video>files.

I've verified it with a clean installation in portable mode with no previous user data. just add a couple of movies in the library and it dies while trying to start them like mentioned before. In debug it dies right after NOTICE: Creating Demuxer
.

sorry i cant be of more help, i too use library mode, same build and i just dont have these problems
i hope someone can help you find the answer

Anyone have an idea what might be the cause or how to find more useful debug info, since the current NOTICE Demuxer + deleted threads some time after that is pretty much all there is. In the meantime I'll try to find which nightly SVN works without this issue.

- MikeLDN - 2010-06-24

I have the same issue, had it on 31321 and still on 31343. I have three users, and it only happens on the main user a for all movies viewed from Movie Menu. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit by thye way.

- MikeLDN - 2010-06-24

Can it have something to do with the files Folder location structure, meaning depending on the folders its in we can have the issue, u c, I have the prob on all, but I have a way of storyng my files. The people that can play some but not all, is it allways the same ones that work? are they on the same drive? Lets see if we can work it out.

- odt_x - 2010-06-24

Hey again. I have tried many possible scenarios, and one thing I noticed that this problem started to happen after the earliest june SVN nightly that I was experimenting with updated all it's addons. I can't really see how it could affect the playing of movies (as the next step after Demuxer should be loading the .dll's) but something must be going on there.

So far the only workaround I see is to avoid setting any source as "movie content", as there doesn't seem to be any issues with the TV shows.

Have just updated to 31364 and roblem seems to have been fixed, as it is working fine for me now.

For me the behaviour is the same. It works fine until I don't import my movie library. After the movie library has been imported, it will just hang on "Working" when trying to play *any* of the movies and also occasionally crash on exit, if browsing movie library before.

- MikeLDN - 2010-06-25

Ok, I have to say it worked, but now, it has hung again, and is starting to do it again, and I haven't done anything, haven't changed or updated.

This is weird.

Still no full debug logs anywhere to be seen...
