Ubuntu Lucid, ATI HD4200, no video playback - Ry J - 2010-07-01 I just bought a new rig and installed Ubuntu 10.04 on it. When I install and run XBMC all I get is the audio and mostly black screen. SOmetimes the screen will change color but mostly black. Any suggestions? The setup I have is: OS - Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx (fresh install) mobo - MSI 785GT-E63 w/ATI HD4200 on board video CPU - AMD Sempron 140 2.7GHz single core RAM - two gigs of Kingston 667MHz - Hannes The Hun - 2010-07-01 which ATI driver do you have installed? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI - stealthbanana - 2010-07-01 I also have the same problem, using XMBC from the PPA (9.11-lucid2). I was using mplayer from the smplayer PPA, but have downgraded to the medibuntu version of mplayer, but still the same problem. Vid card is a HD4650 with 10.6 drivers (8.741) self compiled from the ati website. Videos play fine in smplayer, vlc etc. Have tried on a gnome desktop with compiz running, and fluxbox with no fancy effects. - bobo1on1 - 2010-07-01 Ah ati + linux, set render method to basic shaders(arb). - Ry J - 2010-07-01 bobo1on1 Wrote:Ah ati + linux, set render method to basic shaders(arb). I cannot believe that that was the problem. You would have thought that an "automatic" setting would have taken care of that. Anyway it works now. Thanks a lot. - Anger - 2010-07-02 Hi, I don't know where apply the change that you mention. Can you explane me? Thank a lot |
