SSH into your device as the user root, and replace the librtmp.0.dylib file in /Applications/XBMC.app/Frameworks/ with the new version

Hey, I have to admit I am newbie in this field... I am also trying to get access to Comedy Central...

What I have done: Have installed the Bluecop repo and the free-cable video plug-ing - Have also replaced the patched file via SSh as explained.

What else do I need to do? Where do I find the free cables_common.py ...? Do I still need to change it? And if yes, how?

Sorry for all these questions - would appreciate your help!

Thanks for putting these back in for those of us with the hacked rtmpdump. Though it looks like colbert gives a script error when you try and play a video.

Hey,

thanks for your reply. I just did that - found the file and changed it in the sense of unmarking comedy central. I did this by downloading the file via cyberduck, changed it and put it back on the ATV by replacing the old with the changed version.

Now, however, when I try to start Free Cable, I get an error - what have I done wrong? Any suggestions, please?

Notice the comma at the end needs to be added to TV Land and removed from Comedy Central.

So It will need to look like this;

'TV Land':'tvland',^M
'Comedy Central':'comedy'^M

Hey Thanks for your help again!

Yes, the comma did part of the work - meaning now I can use free cable again, but Comedy Central is not working - meaning: yesterday, I got a script error first and after trying several times, I did get into the directories and after several attempts could play one Daily Show episode, others not. Today, I am trying the same thing again and only get the error - no other way.

Is that the way it is now, or is there anything else I can do?

Colbert needed a fix to get the right uri for the episode.

I committed it to the repo but I didn't increment the free cable version because it is disabled by default.

I did implement it - not sure if I did it correctly: copied the "text" of the new version and replaced it with the text in the comedy.py I found atv2, /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/addons/plugin.video.free.cable/resources/lib

Restarted XBMC, but either way: still script error Sad

- cannot even access directories of Comedy Central

Thanks for your help, though ... I guess I will just have to download it, import into iTunes and then stream it - not nice, but better than any other way

you can just save the file itself. if you right click and save as in the browser on the link I posted.

I believe it is just python formatting issues from you copying the text.

I did as you told - downloaded the .py directly and put it in the said folder - restarted everything - XBMC and AT2 - still to no avail. Script-error remains. Can access other stations via Free Cable without problem...

Comedy Central really seems to be picky, though

I didn't think about permissions. it could cause a problem.

if you uninstall and reinstall the plugin from the repo then It will grab the updated file. you would want to backup your common.py though.

I am not sure what the problem if it isn't permissions.

grab a log of the failure and post it to pastebin.

Thanks BlueCop! I downloaded the file and overwrit the default one and it works fine on my box. I'm running Arch Linux + the Eden nightlies if that matters at all.
