I even got me wife to try with her youtube account Sad

We need a debug log to see what the problem is.

Ha funny. I had already looked there and there is no log. Will reboot and try again for the log.
Wasn't sure if the plugin was creating its own.

Nah, We just output to the same log, so it should be in the usual place, question is if that wiki is up to date? What os are you on?

- danz0l - 2010-09-01

Yes it was uptodate but for some reason the log file had been deleted.

Heres the log file

You are running a revision of XBMC that had a bug with the https support. Please upgrade to revision 33324 (beta1) that should solve the problem.

Ah that would explain it. Upgrading now Smile

Woo-hoo! It works very well indeed.

Thanks!

So I finally got around to trying out 0.9.9. All-in-all it looks very nice and is working pretty well.

...there is one thing though! Connecting to videos that would normally require age verification still seems a bit flakey. I've attached a debug log to this post of a session where I opened the plugin and went to play one of these videos. At first it failed immediately with an "uncaught error", but then I went to the plugin's settings page and on leaving that page waited (approx 30sec) for the plugin to state that I had been logged in. After that I went back to try and play the same video, this time it succeeded straight away. Here's the log:

Now that you seem to have cracked the rtmpe thing there's probably better example videos I could be using, which you could access too, but I'm afraid I haven't looked up any others yet.

The problem is a bit inconsistant. What is consistant is that the video never plays unless you establish a log in via the settings menu first. But that said, logging in via the settings menu before trying to play the video does not *always* get it working.

It's certainly not the "show stopper" that should hold you back from releasing 1.0, it's just a little niggle which you might want to iron out if you can.

On the whole though, congratulations on a great plugin! Really good work!

Two things are happening here.

1) The login is failing after 30 seconds of no response from googles server. And not retrying.

2) And when playing the video the youtube server had an internal error.

I wonder why the login didn't retry.

Did you get a pretty error message on the video playback error? Or did it crash?

Could you give me another log to look at, with another video if possible?

The only error message that I remember getting was the "uncaught error" message which I've mentioned in the post above. It came up immediately on selecting the video in the search results, the video itself didn't actually start playing. When the video did play (second attempt, after logging in with settings menu) it carried on doing so until I pressed stop - no error messages.

I'll try and sort out another log with a different video for you tonight.

EDIT: Will probably use this video as the new test (Born Free by M.I.A. provided by MIAVEVO):

As I'm away from my XBMC setup at the moment I haven't been able to try it and see if it is a video that causes problems with the plugin, but it is age restricted, so I'm hoping it will. Also as it's from the same provider (VEVO) as your rtmpe test video I'm hoping it'll be available in your locale.

Does the seek work properly? I tried it and when I do a seek while playing it waits until it downloads all of the stream up until the seek point.

Can this be solved?

I feel really stupid but when I queue videos, how do I actually play the queue? I queued one video and pressed play on another and the queued one never played.
