RE: [RELEASE] YouTube (Video) Plugin - De facto default standard YouTube Addon for XBMC - peppe_sr - 2014-11-24

is not easy, the developpers of each plugin have to modify the code. i already asked in 'youtube music' addon.

The bromixc youtube plugin works.. But it doesn't play my complete playlist.
When i play a song it only repeats the one song.
Also i do not see an option in the context menu to play the whole playlist.

Well that's not surprising - it's an alpha version of the plugin so don't expect the same functionality of the official plugin.

Posting issues with the Bromix plugin isn't for here - do that over on his thread

Hey, can anyone else confirm that paid content has stopped working recently?

Since about one week ago (give or take) trying to open a video form a paid channel (DRIVE+) results in these errors in the log file:

VEVO videos issue in UK - emjayuu - 2014-11-28

I followed the full fix set out by Tomer953 (post #4599) on my media PC lasr weekend and although it did not appear to work at the time, I checked just again now and VEVO videos are now playing here in the UK using the redviolet YouTubePlayer.py file.

RE: [RELEASE] YouTube (Video) Plugin - De facto default standard YouTube Addon for XBMC - 389abc - 2014-11-28

Just tested. Confirm that with redviolet fix youtube start working again for me too.

[RELEASE] YouTube (Video) Plugin - De facto default standard YouTube Addon fo... - fastdump - 2014-11-29

The redviolet patched YouTubePlayer.py file has worked for me.

I didn't need to uninstall/reinstall the YouTube app (it complained about uninstalling anyway due to a couple of dependencies and I wasn't in the mood to deal with that).

YouTube Music app is playing videos again, which is the only reason I need the official YouTube app to work, so the fact that login is still broken is irrelevant for me - bromix's excellent 'alpha' remains my go-to YouTube app (subscriptions, watch later, etc.).

Yep, it wasnt working a few days ago (here in the UK) but seems to have started working now.

Not ideal if theres also regional variations going on here.

Can anyone explain why this keeps happening? IE whats the browser doing differently to the plugin that makes the plugin fall over all the time, in what seems like a game of whack-a-mole requiring continuous patching...

RE: [RELEASE] YouTube (Video) Plugin - De facto default standard YouTube Addon for XBMC - JasonPell - 2014-11-30

The plugin is screen scraping the content intended for a browser. This is always going to lead to some fragility. Only alternative is to rely more on the APIs but I don't think they provide all the required features

RE: [RELEASE] YouTube (Video) Plugin - De facto default standard YouTube Addon for XBMC - Cyberkid2002 - 2014-12-02

doesnt seem to be working for me this evening in the UK... have tried the fix posted earlier on, doesnt seem to resolve the problem. Nothing plays at all, not just VEVO.

All videos, including VEVO, still playing normally for me here in London, Cyberkid.

I also experienced the problem with the VEVO video's. The fix above solved the issue. It is still working, just checked it on a number of Rihanna video's (max resolution 720p).
I'm in The Netherlands.

fastdump, thanks for pointing to that.

As there has been nothing PRd to the original youtube addon github repo, I created a PR for that fix. All contribution to redviolet though.
