XBMC gets dedicated remote - Motorola Nyxboard - Malard - 2010-09-12

Hi,

Motorola recently announced the Nyxboard, along with other similar remotes that have been demo/announced recently. I'm curious how many of you would prefer to have a compact dual faced remote for use with XBMC or any other Media Center software?

Its just a little too expensive though! If it was around $40 then I would love it.

What are the colored buttons mapped to?

I just saw the news on slashdot. I am curious how the mouse pad will function? Does anyone have any details about this? I am always on the hunt for the perfect keyboard/mouse for my living room, and always been disappointed. Maybe this will be the one plus a remote too, Bonus!

yeah, looks like an improved version of the dual faced Boxee remote. A track pad would be nice.

If thats your pricerange I'd recommend the MCE Remote. Its built with a lot cheaper technology (IR and no extra keyboard etc.). Its still a good remote but more TV oriented than this which may fit xbmc better.

Looks like Motorola is excepting pre-orders...

This is bound to be one of the better remotes with IR for your TV and RF for the HTPC and Boxee type keyboard with gyro

I Don't know, but should be for example:
Red->TV
Green->Movies
Yellow->TV Shows
Blue->Music

no? Nerd

That does look good. Is it team-xbmc endorsed though like the android app?

- joebrady - 2011-04-05

Yep

I looked at that price point, but we would lose a bunch of features that I thought would make the experience much better, the IR layer, (its RF for xbmc and then you program the IR to control amp/dvd/tv etc) and also the toggle switch, basically when you flip the remote over, a signal gets sent to xbmc so we can auto pop up search, flip it back and we action that search, so no need for the mouse in any situation really!

If you need the mouse, its a d-pad. But I am working on a skin designed for the remote, as such things like the Red Green Yellow Blue buttons will get used as soft-keys to access various sub functions.
