- wicky - 2011-03-13 You can read some of my findings here with xbmc, win 7, and the fusion platform. But as HansP points out, 1080p is flawless - Krautmaster - 2011-03-17 well, i use an core i3 530 together with Ubuntu Minimal + XBMC and it works like a charm so far, VAAPI is working since December nearly bugless. And in Addition... the i3 530 produces better results than my Geforce 9300 on the ITX zotac board haha. The upscaling works very good, same to the deinterlacing modes without vaapi. Well, with the GF9300, VDPAU works in 5 minutes yes, but i had the problem that the border flickers in deinterlacing modes when VDPAU was enabled. If not, there were the same modes like on my Intel system now. Intel + VAAPI was useless before December. I got it running but there was a lot of work to do because the 1080p material doens't play fluently with VAAPI on. Good luck the system is able to play 1080p without acceleration, CPU got enough power for that. My only problem is the support of accelerate interlaced material. It stocks and doesnt play fluently. I want to try to test Zacate E-350 on exactly the same "ground", Ubuntu 10.10. x64 minimal, DVB-S2 digital sat TV in HD, XBMC-Live, Lirc and IMON Display and remote from my OrigenAE ITX case. by the way... the Intel System with i3 530 + MSI H55 Board draws sub 20W of power idle, per default on pico psu, with some settings down to <15W in Windows. Sadly, the ITX Gigabyte board i use causes an increase - i dont know exactly right now. Anybody there who already got Linux+XBMC + VAAPI + Zacate (E-350) working? I want to try out a new system to build the perfect HTPC, create an image to install it. My hope on Fusion is better VA Deinterlacing and an advantage in load power consumption - and cheaper... - Robotica - 2011-03-17 Krautmaster Wrote:Anybody there who already got Linux+XBMC + VAAPI + Zacate (E-350) working? It is working on Linux. See: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=96527 (post 13). H264 runs perfect with ~15% CPU usage on both cores (high Bitrate mkv). This topic and this topic give some install instructions. Btw, Win7 is working like a charm with those E350 boards. - nemek - 2011-03-17 If some one is interested below is my custom xbmc-live ubuntu 10.10 x64 build (done using xbmc-live sdk). Its contains patched xbmc 10 compiled with vaapi enabled and all needed libs (ie libva, xvba-video etc) + latest catalyst 11.3 + mplayer-vaapi (for testing). Its confirmed to work with almost all hd movies ( / AP@L3 max - xvba limitation) on ati cards (probably uvd2 is required - ie hd 4xxx) xbmc-10.0-live-amd.part1.rar xbmc-10.0-live-amd.part2.rar xbmc-10.0-live-amd.part3.rar xbmc-10.0-live-amd.part4.rar - HansP - 2011-03-17 yes , i use the version of nemek also and it's perfect ! - Robust² - 2011-04-04 I've been trying all weekend to get VAAPI working on my Gigabyte E350-USB3 without succes. I think the problem lies with my Catalyst drivers, when running flgrxinfo I always get an 'Unable to open display (null)' error. Anyone who has experience with this? I'm downloading nemek's version and will report back how it works. - Gujs - 2011-04-04 Hi, Are you trying to run this from terminal? You have to export display first, to be able to do that: Code: export DISPLAY=:0.0 - blueray - 2011-04-04 nemek great work. It is working very nice with very low cpu usage. Can you update the version to 10.1? Right now CPU usage ~5% while playing 1080p mkv without stucking - SpectreX - 2011-04-04 +1, i`m also interested in this since i`m using a nighly build atm. - SpectreX - 2011-04-04 poofyhairguy Wrote:But VAAPI is disabled for a reason. Its not anti-AMD bias. Atm, on my Zacate i`ve used the latest 11.3 drivers with Live and a VAAPI enabled build and playback was rock solid on all my HD movies. That vaapi surfaces usage patch was submitted and closed 5 weeks ago, so it could have made it to 10.1 (but i think it`s included in the latest nightly builds). So VAAPI could be enabled, or at least enabled and marked as experimental. - Limx - 2011-04-08 I'm so frustrated! I've tried to install VAAPI for hours (see my tryings below) and no success. BUT the version posted by nemek works great also with VAAPI ... B U T how did he do that?? What I've done wrong - that costs me some nights of thinking about it Here what I've tried (more than one try...) May someone finds the mistake: Code: # http://www.multimedia4linux.de/htpc/ati_video.html - nemek - 2011-04-08 Quote:May someone finds the mistake:Its looks way too complicated than it should be. Basically what u have to do is: 1. install va-api stuff (3 libs [libva & libva-dev & xvba-video] from splitted-desktop.com) 2. install catalyst 3. confirm if everything is ok (run vainfo) - if its reporting an error its probably missing linkage 4. compile xbmc with va-api enabled OR use https://launchpad.net/~lars-opdenkamp/+archive/xbmc-pvr - but it can and i guess will make problems with already installed libva - Limx - 2011-04-08 Hi, thx - I'll try this next time - for now your version works like a charm and I don't want to make a mistake again My failed steps: Step 1: Most the time I've installed catalyst first: Code: wget http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/ati-driver-installer-11-3-x86.x86_64.run Or Compiled and than installed the 4 .deb files Code: sudo apt-get install build-essential cdbs fakeroot dh-make debhelper debconf libstdc++6 dkms libqtgui4 wget execstack libelfg0 ia32-libs Step 2: After that I've installed allways the 3 libs from splitted-desktop.com (newest version) Code: wget http://www.splitted-desktop.com/~gbeauchesne/libva/pkgs/amd64/libva1_0.32.0-1+sds2_amd64.deb But they never running correctly... vainfo brought an error (-1) and also fglrxinfo says "Error: unable to open display (null)" Next big mistake - I've used the standard Version of XBMC and not the xbmc-pvr... Next time I post a log of every step Thx again for your great version. - nemek - 2011-04-08 Quote:But they never running correctly... vainfo brought an error (-1) and also fglrxinfo says "Error: unable to open display (null)"It wont work from "console". 1. Start xbmc in safe mode (or kill xbmc with xserver) 2. type: startx - enter 3. left mouse click -> applications -> shells -> bash 4. here u may check vainfo etc - Limx - 2011-04-08 nemek Wrote:It wont work from "console". Oh... THAT also sounds like a mistake I made... allways checked from console (with running xbmc...) thank you so much - I write down every of your lines and will use it for the next installation wisely |
