@ ktjensen

A lot of the problems you are describing are more Slingbox issues, than anything to do with XBMC. I would recommend you post your issues on the XBMC General Help and Support forum and not here, since this thread was created to deal with the development of this functionality and development is now mostly complete.

If you'd like to get my attention regarding a certain thread posted in the XBMC General Help and Support forum, feel free to send me a PM with a link to the thread.

Thanks,
Harry

I implemented this code into my local xbmc4xbox (It was requested over at xbmc4bxox forum by a user - thanks for the code). After some mostly minor changes I have it built, but I am unable to test. I've asked a user to test on our forum, but it would be handy if I could give it a test myself (as ive not heard back from him yet). I don't suppose anyone could give me access over the net to their slingbox to test the code out ?

XBMC is pretty heavy for my uses so I was wondering, do you have any plans to make a vlc or mplayer plugin for slingboxlib? On linux of course Smile

- rdoac - 2011-07-24

I asked a while ago for a command line application which spouts the stream to stdout or a fifo. This would mean you could pipe it to vlc or mplayer. It also means you can use it with vdr and the iptv plugin and turn your slingbox into a remote tuner complete with recordable epg.. Harry said he'd look at it when he had time..

You can already do this with JAKSTA RECORDER for SLINGBOX but it would still be a good idea.

AppleTV2 - NebulaSleuth - 2011-07-24

Just tried this out and it worked a charm. Big Grin

I am running XBMC on an AppleTV2.

I have a couple things that I gather from this thread and was wondering if I am correct or not.

Could someone confirm the following is true...

1. The AppleTV remote does not have the ability to change channels on the slingbox.

2. There is no way to adjust the aspect ratio of the output.

You should be able to map two of the buttons on the AppleTV remote to the PageUp and PageDown buttons via the keymap.xml file. It's not super user friendly but it's doable.

Also you can adjust the aspect ratio of the output in XBMC via the video settings (while playing the stream), but you can't adjust the actual aspect ratio of the Slingbox stream coming from the Slingbox since they only support 4:3.

Thanks Harry. The aspect stuff works great. Didn't realize you could hold the center button and get the options. It even remembers the settings. Cool!

For the keymap.xml, does the SlingboxSettings.xml have anything to do with it, or just remap the remote codes, or both.
I think I first need to set the right codes for my sat receiver right?

Anyone have any idea what the keycodes are for a DirecTV HR20?

XBMC Rules!!!

*bump*

Please, anyone with a slingbox, I would much appreciate it if you spare some mins of your time and help me out with this? After having this requested on the xbox, I've not managed to find one person to help yet so I can test the code.

Can't wait until this is wroking... XBMC + my slingbox = the best thing ever!

- exobuzz - 2011-07-28

just in case anyone is interested, xbmc4xbox has support for slingbox now on nightly builds r30925 or later. Thanks Harry Muscle for the code. It required minor changes to build, http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/xbmc4xbox/changeset/30925 in case you wanted to have a look.

How do you get these nightly builds?

- exobuzz - 2011-07-28

the owner of the site http://www.sshcs.com/xbmc/ builds them, there is also a link at the top of the forums on http://www.xbmc4xbox.org

I was hoping to get this working with my setup and was hoping someone could tell me what I need to get.

I dont have a slingbox currently, which one works with this? From what I gather only the slingbox solo will work.. is that correct?

I also need a spare cable box dedicated to the slingbox correct?

thanks for any answers.. hope to get this going soon!

Long Live XBMC and the many many awesome people working on stuff like this!
