- Angelscry - 2010-11-29 Rob Loach Wrote:I've gone through some of the more popular emulator launcher frontends that don't the require use of a mouse (HyperSpin, GameEx and Maximus Arcade), and it seems Advanced Launcher is getting pretty good as a launcher. What it's missing from the dedicated launchers are:I do not think I will add all this features.
- Angelscry - 2010-11-29 Pinhead Wrote:A couple of things:Oups... Ok I have seen it. It will be fixed in the next version. Thank you for your feedback. Pinhead Wrote:Also, there is an odd bug that makes some games disappear from view if their names only differ on the last character. When adding Mortal Kombat, MK 2 and MK III, the games show up just fine. However, the sequels disappear if I change the name of Mortal Kombat 2 to Mortal Kombat II, for the sake of consistency. I have my Final Fantasy VII ISO-files named 'Final Fantasy VII cd1', 'Final Fantasy VII cd2' and 'Final Fantasy VII cd3', and these three discs are stacked so there is only a single entry in the rom list. In other words, game entries seem to stack when game names only differ in the last characters.I will look at this. But I think it is due to the scraper option. If the scraper search for "Final Fantasy VII cd1", "Final Fantasy VII cd2" and "Final Fantasy VII cd3" it will surely return the same results for the 3 files : "Final Fantasy VII". So, after, I did not know how the launcher will manage this. I will have to check this. Thank you for your feedback. Pinhead Wrote:Of course, having game sequels disappear is something that should be fixed, but having said that, I also think that the way that my Final Fantasy VII discs stack looks nice in the ROM list. Therefore I would like to suggest that game files that end with a 'cd#' / 'disc#' suffix is stacked, and when you select it a context menu-like box pops up, and you can specify which of the (in this case three) files you want to launch. Does this make any sense?Yes... it clearly make sense. I will think about that. Pinhead Wrote:Also, I have been getting this error when trying to download thumbs for a few games.I think it is due to the "Playstation" wrong spelling. Name of all the supported platforms system are stored into the gamesys file. This file is necessary to make correlation between each scrapers (), As "Playstation" is wrong spelled the launcher is not able to found the corresponding images. I will fix this. Thank you. - rausch101 - 2010-11-30 Angelscry: I looked through my launchers.xml file to compare with the allgame website. It looks like your scraper got everything correct (nice job!). However, it looks like allgame is missing plot information for many games (and all information for some games). Gamefaq on the other hand seems to have information for most all games. So if you get a chance I'd suggest adding gamefaq's as a scraper for info as well. I can give examples if you want, but it looks like that was the 'problem' with many of my games not being scraped. Also I agree with you that it is a good idea to get the base code/features working very well before adding other non-essential features and trinkets. - Angelscry - 2010-11-30 rausch101 Wrote:Angelscry:Yes, and it is utopian to think that a single game database will have all the game informations and images. That's why I have already added the option to select between several database sources. This is the scapers I have planned to add to the advanced launcher in the next weeks :
I'm actually working on the google images scraper. - rausch101 - 2010-11-30 Great plan...Sounds like that will cover 99% of the games - Jurai - 2010-11-30 I've been having problems with the info scraper failing to scrape all of the games in a directory. I've made sure the add-on is set to get info for all files and did a rescan but it seems to only pick out a handful (~50) of the ~800 files in the directory to actually fetch the info for. If I manually go one by one and get info for the other games the data is available, so I'm not sure why the script is skipping over so many. Anyone else have this problem? - rausch101 - 2010-11-30 Jurai Wrote:I've been having problems with the info scraper failing to scrape all of the games in a directory. Probably need some more information to help you- How are your rom files named? Does your launchers.xml file show any information being collected for the games that show nothing? (this file is in your XBMC user data folder) - Angelscry - 2010-12-01 Version 0.7.0 This is a new version of the advanced launcher. This version add the possibility to select the image scraper between Gamefaqs and Google Images. The Gamefaqs scraper use the edited title of the game and the game system for it search. The google images scraper only use the edited title of the game for more flexible researches. This last scraper as to be considered as the ultimate way to found images but not the more accurate one. For this reason the google images scraper may will be not used as an option for future automatic scanning functionality. ChangeLog:
- Pinhead - 2010-12-01 Okay, one more spelling error i noticed in the system list. One entry should read 'Pioneer LaserActive'. Also, I'm still getting an error when trying to get thumbs for Playstation games. I've narrowed the error down a bit though. I installed version 0.7, and re-added the Playstation launcher entry. I can't remember if it happened last time, but this time AL couldn't find info for a single one of the 18 game roms it scanned automatically. I found them when I searched for info for each game individually though. Anyway, I can search for thumbs as long as the ROM acts as a simple file in the AL database, instead of as a game after AL has collected data for it. If I add my Playstation games, let AL fail to find info for them, and I then go straight to downloading thumbs, thumbs will turn up. But as soon as I collect data for the games from Allgames, AL will consistently fail to find thumbs, and only return an error. Code: 13:42:52 T:3460 M:2189885440 NOTICE: -->Python Interpreter Initialized<-- I don't know if AL failing to find info for any of my PS1 games automatically is connected to the error I'm getting though. The Google image search is very clever. Completing a set of thumbs and fanart shouldn't be a problem now. - Angelscry - 2010-12-01 Pinhead Wrote:Okay, one more spelling error i noticed in the system list. One entry should read 'Pioneer LaserActive'.Could you please post here your launchers.xml file or on pastebin. By using it, I will be able to reproduce your error and fix it. I think that the your launchers.xml files still contain the wrong playstation spelling (even if you have installed the last version) and that is create error (game system info nto you launchers.xml files are different from the gamesys file). Thing you can try is to delete your playstation launcher and create a new one. I think it may fix your problem. Thank you for the 'Pioneer LaserActive' error feedback. It will be fixed in the next version - Pinhead - 2010-12-01 I had a look in my launchers.xml, and from what I can see, there is a disparity between the platform title between games there is data on, and those without; PlayStation and Playstation. Could there be a problem with case sensitivity? Here is my full launchers.xml anyway. http://pastebin.com/76aHFKDD - chrizfitz - 2010-12-01 Thank you for doing this. I have a couple of days off and was going to fuck about with the old launcher and came accross this. Ran a couple of test on my work lappy and works a dream. No problems as yet, I just wanted to know what Launcher Mod for revisited do? How to install it when I install from zip I get an error? - Spaggi - 2010-12-01 chrizfitz Wrote:Thank you for doing this. This is a MOD for the Alaska Revisited Skin, containing the new views for the addon launcher. If you use AR, you have to install both packages. You have to copy the files inside the ZIP by hand in your Alaska Revisited addon folder. - chrizfitz - 2010-12-01 Spaggi Wrote:This is a MOD for the Alaska Revisited Skin, containing the new views for the addon launcher. TY - DasFa - 2010-12-01 Hi @ all i would like to know if its possible to start a game on a secondary monitor and sounddevice via arguments. thanks in advance for your help |
