DigiTech Wrote:Hi angelscry do u know if exist a specific parameter so in PCSX-Reloaded i can go back to menu and use load-save state, im using windows 7, outside xbmc i use esc and automatic it shows the menu so i can save anywhere in the game, when i finish saving PCSX go back to ingame, is there any way i can save that way when im using it in Advanced Launcher? do i need a parameter i wish it could be done.Thanks.
I'm not sure there is a native command line parameter into PCSX-Reloaded that can do this automatically. Best way will be to ask the question on PCSX-R forum : http://pcsxr.codeplex.com/

But I think it may be possible to create a script launcher (using autoit for example) that can simply do this :
  • Start the script launcher with rom path.
  • Check if the savestate file exist for this rom.
  • If savestate file exists, Start PCSX-R, open savestate and start the game.
  • If savestate file not exists, Start PCSX-R as normal.
  • When exit key is pressed save state file and exit PCSX-R

I am incredibly impressed by this program, and very surprised at how it outperforms even Gameex and Hyperspin! The only thing that is missing, in my opinion, is being able to view the cartridge, manual "back of the box" etc. I know Rom collection browser already has a similar feature but I strongly prefer advanced launcher. I understand how time consuming programing can be but even if you could add only one of those views it would be AWESOME!!
I cant possibly think of anything else to add or improve!

Thanks!

Concerning additional views it is not really dependent of me but most related to the skins and themes makers works. Advanced Launcher support Extra fanarts folder path parameter. So it is possible for skinners to add cartridges, manuals and other information into there skins using this parameter. For example, Cirrus Extended and Night Purity skins already use the Extra fanarts folder path parameter to include support of video and company logos. For those kind of improvements are related to skins.Wink

Hi Angelscry,

Would it be possible to save view mode settings with each launcher? For example, SNES would use coveflow on and NES would use coverflow off.

Every game system has it's own aspect ratio for it's cover, so I'd like to be able to chose the viewtype that best fits that aspect for each system (for example SNES (Wide) vs NES (Tall) vs PSX (Square)). The aspect ratio would be applied on the skin side, I just need Advanced Launcher to allow me to set different display methods for each launcher.

Skin related, nothing to do with AVL, and not possible unless you have a view with dynamic width and height or different views (xml files) for each cover (aspect ratio) so you can set them to each launcher, but if you have a launcher with covers of different aspect ratios the only way is dynamic.

I've done this for my MOD, each covers for each view are separated xmls, you can try and see.

As KiSUAN reply you, it is a skin related problem. You can actually already do what you explain with several skins (like Alaska Revisited, Cirrus Extended, Night Purity for example). Those skins provide views into 3 sizes for add-on programs (wide, square and tall views) that support mostly all the game cover formats. So, if your actual skin do not support those kind of views, you will have to ask to the skin makers to implement them.

Also, into XBMC, when you select a specific view for a launcher, this view will always be the same until you select another view or you change the skin. So no need to add a settings for this. XBMC already do the job.

More generally, there is 2 ways for add-ons to manage their interface (menu, list, images, text, etc...) :
  • Integrate their proper display : advantage of this method is that the add-on display is not dependent of the skin and can provide exactly what it want. Disadvantage is that if you use a specific skin, the add-on can use another skin theme and so the global common design of your interface is not uniform.
  • Use existing skins display : advantage of the second method is that your add-on interface is fully integrated into your skin. Disadvantage is that the add-on display is dependent of the skin functionalities/update. So if the skin do not provide a good display for the add-on you can miss some information display.
I have chosen to keep to use the second method. Because I prefer to have an homogeneous skin display than several skins display at the same time when I use XBMC. Also this method is more flexible for skin makers. They can display and integrate advanced launcher into their skin as they want. Also if someone want to a add specific view or information display, he just have to create it's proper skin mod.

Thanks Angelscry!

I have one last question but I'm not sure if I should be posting this on the night purity form or not. I was wondering if it would be possible to add an info view for games, for example in "rom collection browser" as you are scrolling brought games you can press I to get detailed info about games. This window includes most of the infos found on sites like mobygames and also displays other media like cartridge, box-back, manuals And video. I understand that this is a lot to ask for and might be a skin issue but it would be really cool if someone could implement this!!!!!

Thanks for your time!

belen10, all the info I can get from AVL and that AVL gets from web sites is already shown in most of the views I made for AVL, that info is, launcher name, studio, release, genre and plot. In top of that as Angel told you along with the option for extrafanart Purity and Extended gives the option for video, I also added the option for game logo in Arcade views and plan in adding it to every view.

About adding extra stuff like back cartridge and manuals I could look into it, but It's gonna be a tricky one, I don't know exactly how RCB does it as I never really use it, but I have the feeling is only possible because of how RCB addon is coded, that's pretty different from AVL, and press "I" to see game details is something coded into RCB, a function that is not available through XBMC in programs. So if I'm going to add some of this things I would have to do it through the actual views, not a "detail info view" as isn't possible as far as I know.

@benlen10
I'm not interested at all to make Advanced Launcher become another game frontend like RCB. I want Advanced Launcher to be a simple and very flexible applications launcher with support of common media information (thumbs, fanart, description, release, studio). That it actually done well. If you need to manage additional media (extrafanart, video, etc...) the extrafanart field have been created for this goal. Now if you need a complete game frontend for XBMC... simply use RCB. Wink

"ERROR SCRIPT FAILED! : ADDON.PY" is an error message related to Advanced Launcher. If it only occurs with Dolphin 2.0 emulator, please post here, using pastebin service the content of your launchers.xml file (to check if your launcher is well configured) and the content of your xbmc.log file, just after the error message happen (to see what is going wrong).

Hummm... strange. There clearly something that Advanced Launcher do not like into your dolphin launcher configuration :
  • Try to correct the argument /b /e to /b /e "%rom%". Must not be linked... but it will surely works better like this.
  • The error message is WindowsError: [Errno 740] U hebt niet de benodigde bevoegdheden voor deze bewerking. So... it seems that XBMC do not have the powers necessary to start Dolphin.exe. Is it the same windows user that have installed XBMC and Dolphin applications?
