Angelscry: hey, I'm doing a mod for an skin, is there a place where I can read all the attributes you're exporting to xbmc (listitem.thumbnail), etc.? I have forgotten and I can't find anything in the wiki, maybe we should build a wiki page for skinners

lolowned, my own request, thanks!

I love this advanced launcher, but I am running into a problem now.
Running XBMC live 10.1. I am trying to lounch a javacript game through the launcher with a .sh script (that came with the game). But it will not start from launcher. I can however execute it from a terminal.

The following lines are in the script:
export DISPLAY=:0
java -Xmx128m -cp ".:./bin:./src_test:./test:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/jinput.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl-util.jar:./lib/jmf.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_util.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_util_applet.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_test.jar.jar:./lib/jmf.jar" -Djava.library.path="lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/native/linux/" gdi1sokoban.Application

I startet advanced launcher and tried running the game twice, see the xbmc.log below that was created:

Can somebody tell me what's wrong here? Why it won't start from the advanced launcher?

I do not think the XBMC log file will give us any useful information concerning your problem. I think that XBMC and Advanced Launcher start your script but this one is not working when started from XBMC (but works for terminal). To help you I need to know :
  • What command line do you use to start your script from the terminal?
  • What configuration parameters have you used for the launcher into Advanced Launcher?
  • Does the XBMC user that the right the start your script? This problem occurs with some linux application (for example witrh boxee : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=Boxee#Linux).
One way to debug this is to start XBMC from a terminal (with command line) and see the eventually returned error message into this terminal when starting your script using advanced launcher.

Thanks Angelscry for your quick response.
1 - The script I mention is inside: startLinux.sh . I gave it execute rights with chmod +x . I started it from the game directory like: ./startLinux.sh
2 - I changed nothing from the default settings in the advanced launcher plugin (only scraper sourcers and fanart/thumb targets). In this case I didn't enter any arguments in the launcher, I deleted %rom%. System platform is set to linux.
3 - Never had rights problems before. I log into terminal using xbmc/xbmc, which are the us/pw that xbmc itself also uses. The file itself has been made executable:
-rwxr-xr-x 1 xbmc xbmc 392 2011-07-15 13:10 startLinux.sh

When I run the game from the terminal: ./startLinux.sh
I get the following errors involving sound, but the game does start (just without sound):
==========
Unable to handle format: LINEAR, 44100.0 Hz, 16-bit, Stereo, LittleEndian, Signed, 176400.0 frame rate, FrameSize=32 bits
Failed to prefetch: com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@1b15692
Error: Unable to prefetch com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@1b15692

Unable to handle format: mpegaudio, 44100.0 Hz, 16-bit, Stereo, LittleEndian, Signed, 16000.0 frame rate, FrameSize=32768 bits
Failed to prefetch: com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@659db7
Error: Unable to prefetch com.sun.media.PlaybackEngine@659db7
==========
As the program does start from terminal, maybe these are considered Warnings, while XBMC or Advanced Launcher also aborts the executionon on Warnings.

I will try to launch XBMC from a terminal, but I don't know how yet as the Live version boots into it automatically. I'll try closing it and starting it from the command line.

NB: I did get other applications running under Advanced Launcher in XBMC Live, but when it was in a .sh script it never worked.

<edit>
I did try your root user solution from: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=816441&postcount=2177
But that didn't work.
</edit>

<edit2>
I have started XBMC from the commandline, but there is no information printed in the terminal when I start the game from advance launcher.
</edit2>

It will be hard to understand what is going wrong if we are not able to see any error message occurring during you script start. XBMC live is not the ideal version to use with Advanced Launcher. Because sometime you could have compatibility problem, between the started application and XBMC. And into this case the only solution is to close XBMC and stay under the X session before starting the application.

.sh scripts works for sure with XBMC and advanced launcher. So the problem is somewhere else. Maybe it could be related to a relative/absolute path problem. Where is located your startLinux.sh file? Try to a cd command line at the beginning of your script, like this :
Code:
[b]#!/bin/bash
cd .path/to/the/directoy/where/is/located/the/script[/b]
export DISPLAY=:0
java -Xmx128m -cp ".:./bin:./src_test:./test:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/jinput.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl-util.jar:./lib/jmf.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_util.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_util_applet.jar:./lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/jar/lwjgl_test.jar.jar:./lib/jmf.jar" -Djava.library.path="lib/lwjgl-2.0.1/native/linux/" gdi1sokoban.Application

Dolphin-emu - zugol - 2011-07-15

Hi,

I have a small problem with dolphin-emu. I can't exit in fullscreen, escape seems inefficient... There is no problem under gnome but under xbmc it doesn't work... Actually there is no key that works during emulating, except keys that are used for play...

I don't think it's an advanced-launcher problem but I hope somebody has found or workaround or something helping (as an exemple a way to run windowed dolphin but with maximum resolution)

Thanks in advance !

Does the "Confirm on Stop" option of dolphin-emu is unchecked? http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=Dolphin#Linux

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, the option is unchecked.

If the cursor fly over the toolbar, the esc key is working. But if the cursor fly over the emulation window it doesn't work...

Is there any way to force a gtk app to start maximized ??

Normally, if you check the "Start Renderer in Fullscreen" option of dolphin-emu it automatically start in full screen. Oo

- Fitho - 2011-07-15

That fixed it. It was a relative/absolute path problem.
Thanks Angelscry.

Angelscry Wrote:Normally, if you check the "Start Renderer in Fullscreen" option of dolphin-emu it automatically start in full screen. Oo

Yes, it does. But if the emulation is fullscreen, escape key is disabled. And I can't exit the game... What I try to do is start dolphin-emu windowed and maximised. If I can have the cursor flying over the menubar, escape will work.
