Angelscry Wrote:Humm... another question : which skin and view are you using? Some skins and views do not have any Advanced Launcher metadata (info and image) display support.

I am using Neon but I have also tried Confluence it try's to scrape but doesn't find anything no files are stored in there appropriate folders in Windows Explorer.

So strange... Are you sure that the Windows user how start XBMC have the rights to write files into the defined thumbs and fanart folders? Also check that Advanced Launcher settings looks like this :

Image Image Image
As soon as it is correct :
  • Select your nintendo 64 launcher then press "c" key to access context menu
  • Select "Edit Launcher" menu entry.
  • Then select "Manage Items List" menu entry.
  • And select "Clear Item list" and confirm.
  • Then, select again your nintendo 64 launcher and access context menu
  • Select "Add items" menu entry.
  • And finally select "Scan for new items".
If you use Confluence skin you may obtain something like this. Thumb and fanart MUST be displayed :

But is you use a skin that support Advanced Launcher views you may obtain something like this :

Started work on including support for Advanced Launcher into Convergence, so have been looking at a couple of other views and would like to ask if there is a list somewhere of addon properties that I could look at eg: ListItem.Property(Addon.Status)

Different subject - tried to register at your forum yesterday but email activation link did not come (yet)

Hey Angelscry. I've been busy with doing a generic AutoIt script for game emulators that can take into account auto-load/save (to provide the resuming functionality). So far it is great, but I am trying to make it read the settings from a text file to make it easier to use it with any other emulator instead of having to recompile it for each emulator (I made it so flexible that you change some vars, and you can use it with another emulator). Also I unified the parameters (-f fullscreen, -l autoload, -s saveonexit, -as TIME autosize,...). I will make sure to share it once I do that.

After doing this I got another idea that complement my script, so I want to ask you about your plugin. I noticed that you use "subprocess_hack.Popen" to run the emulators with their params. Having looked at the method I realized that it can take stdin, stdout,... etc. My question is: would it be possible for example to run something and get the output from it, check it for some info (if there are output) and then do something else. I am thinking about getting the output from the executed program to make further operation from your plugin side. Can you please help me on how to do this if such thing is possible?

Great news. It will surely be really useful for all any other users. So do not hesitate to share with us.

The subprocess_hack.py script included into Advanced Launcher is actually a modified version of the original subprocess_hack python script, that allows to kill XBMC form started application. What kind of operation do you want to perform from the Advanced Launcher plugin side? Eek

hello angel
I can't update advanced laucher to the last version it did't show on xbmc.org for eden...

- tria - 2012-02-14

Maybe I wasn't clear. Each program has "stdin" (for input from the user), "stdout" (for output from the program, like output in the command line or terminal after running a program), and "stderror" (for outputting any errors, possibly to the terminal). What I saw in that script is that there are all these parameters in the method "Popen" you are using to run the emulators.
I want to hook into the "stdout" from your script, and run a program that will possibly output some text into the "stdout" and process it in your script and do further actions based on that output (if there is output).

What I am asking you for help is how to get the output from the program using "stdout" from that method (I want the commandline/terminal output of running program using Popen method). I need to get it to do further processing in your script (I'll do that myself)

Last version of Advanced Launcher has not been accepted by XBMC official repository maintainers. If you want the last version download the one the Advanced Launcher Google code page (http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-advanced-launcher/downloads/list) or use the version present on my repository (also Eden compatible).

The parameters are effectively present into subprocess_hack python script but Advanced Launcher do not use them at all. subprocess_hack is a modified version of the official subprocess python script, so it contain a lot functions and parameters that are not used by advanced launcher.

You cannot do this directly with an autoit script?

If you want information on subprocess : http://docs.python.org/library/subprocess.html

Oh I see, I thought you implemented them, or at least had general idea about it.

Angelscry Wrote:You cannot do this directly with an autoit script?
Yes indeed, sure you definitely can! Smile
Though I am going to use your addon to listen for stdout from an AutoScript program (and then use it as a way to pass information so that I can shift the GUI to your script). If I do manage this, there will be no need to adjust your addon each time just to add additional GUI that are specific to your use case and programs/emulator (so I will let AutoIt do the logic and decide on the options, and your addon will just display them for better integration). I know AutoIt have GUI, but this is not my goal. I want 100% integration with XBMC Smile

Angelscry Wrote:If you want information on subprocess : http://docs.python.org/library/subprocess.html
Thanks, that is really handy. I will have to do some tests to make sure that it can work as expected.

Thank you

Ok... I will check the gameFAQ scrapper. Could be possible that the code have changed on the www source.
