RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - deh2k7 - 2013-02-25

Hi Angelscry -

I'm upgrading to Frodo and in the process of updating filenames for Frodo release. In the past, when using AL for multi-cd games, the naming convention was:

MyGameName-cd1.iso
MyGameName-cd2.iso
MyGameName-cd1.nfo

In Frodo, at least for video files, the convention would be:
MyMovieName-cd1.mpg
MyMovieName-cd2.mpg
MyMovieName.mpg

I'm fairly certain that RCB uses the Frodo video convention above for recognizing multipart games. Have you considered doing the same as well? It certainly would help with consistency issues and help to drive a standard in XBMC.

Thanks for considering it!

No it will not change, because :
  • Changing a naming convention every year is not really a good way to make a good standard. This naming convention for Advanced Launcher exists since XBMC Dharma. I will not force Advanced Launcher users to rename their files.
  • Advanced Launcher naming convention is not exactly the same one used by XBMC or RBC (cf. custom title for multipart items : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=297).

It should works Just point the launcher to your .bat file and it will be started. I cannot make it more simple. Try to avoid the edit manually your launchers.xml file. Also there is an option hidding by default cmd windows started from Advanced Launcher. You could disable this option into Advanced Launcher settings / Debug menu.

(2013-02-21, 05:02)bluenote Wrote: I tried executing cmd.exe with args of /C /batch/ and that doesn't work either. I know the answer is probably somewhere in this thread but I havent been able to find it. Hopefully someone can take pity, thanks
Are you indicating just cmd.exe or the full path : c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe? Have you an launchers.xml file exemple containing application/command that are not working on your system?

(2013-02-21, 05:02)bluenote Wrote: I also tried .lnk support which is also not very intuitive. Now it seems it has to be passed to explorer.exe .... I guess I will try that next and see if that can then be passed to point to the batch file .... not very elegant.
In fact for .lnk support you can indicated any application you want. Once Advanced Launcher found a .lnk file extension it will automatically start it with explorer.exe. When you are under Windows and you double click on a .lnk file, it is in fact executed by explorer.exe.

If I create new launcher, standalone, then select a .lnk to an.exe it works.
If I create new launcher, standalone, then select a .lnk to .bat file it doesn't work.

Could you tell me the approved method to launch a .bat file?

Batch files are not available to be selected standalone. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, you must do something wrong. .bat files can be selected for both standalone and files launchers. Which version of Advanced Launcher are you using? Which version of XBMC are you using? Which OS and version are you using?

I found the problem. Indeed, advanced launcher (well... XBMC file picker I guess) does not show .bat files when I scroll through \windows\system32. I assume this is some kind of (maybe) "too many files" issue.
Copied the .bat files to c:\dir\ and they are found and used no problem.

Thanks for your patience!

EDIT: On 1.12.2 from your repo

That's the version on the official XBMC repo (1.7.6) which is broken, not the version on my proper repo (1.12.2).

Ok... try to unsintall Advanced Launcher, uninstall my repository, then... manually, reinstall the last version of my repository and finally install Advanced Launcher from my repo.

I tried that but it still asks if i want to disable AL.

Hummm... strange. Could also be the Windows protection which prevent XBMC to access system folders.

Yep, just don't understand why not everyone is having this problem, if i click no to disable AL works fine so why does my xbmc keep reporting it as broken every time i turn my htpc on.

RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - Bigmonty - 2013-02-27

I wonder if somebody can give me some advice please.

I have Winuae running via Advanced Launcher however I am trying to figure out if there is a better way of getting games with multiple discs to work. At the moment I have to manually use F12 to add the other disks images or swap the disks. I have disk 1 scraped in Advanced Launcher. Is this the only way of doing it?

Thanks

I don't know. I don't have any idea how XBMC manage the add-ons state and how it decide/detect if an add-on is broken or not and why it seems that you are the only one to have this continuous report problem. Maye you may have to ask the question to XBMC developers or XBMC repo maintainers.

WinUAE do not manage this natively? If I remember well you need create configuration files (.uae) with WinUAE indicating inside which disk images you want to use, and the system configuration. Then tell Advanced Launcher to manage this .uae configuration file instead of directly manage the disk. You could also manage state files to avoid to have at any time the launching process. Look at the WIKI page : http://www.gwenael.org/xbmc/index.php?title=WinUAE

Thanks.

I am wanting to get the save states running and I seem to have it working apart from the fact that when I select my game in Advanced Launcher it takes me to the WinUae program and I have to hit "start" for it then to take me to my save state of my game. What do I have to do for it to take me directly to the save state of my game without me having to do anything?

RE: [RELEASE] Advanced Launcher - Applications Launcher Addon for XBMC - Bigmonty - 2013-02-28

Think I have it working.

I had the following (obviously with my directory path)

-f "%rom%" -statefile="E:\amiga\savestates\%romname%.uss"

When I changed it to this, it worked:

"%rom%" -statefile="E:\amiga\savestates\%romname%.uss"

What exactly does the "-f" at the start do?
