  • If Explorer.exe is already running and that you start it from Advanced Launcher (as standalone launcher without any argument), that the Libraries window which is diplayed.
So, I think that Explorer.exe process is already running on your system when you want to launch it.
How are you starting Explorer.exe exactly (directly explorer.exe, from a .bat script, form a .lnk shortcut)?

hi ... thanks for answer ...

I edited win register for the user which is running XBMC and that user is auto login so when I start my computer it goes straiht into XBMC. All I've done was creating new entry named "shell" pointing on xbmc.exe
Ok, but how do you start explorer.exe from XBMC?

using Advanced launcher ... no argument ... and somehow it started to work for me .. switch the PC on ... goes straight into XBMC, then launch the desktop goes into metro and if I go back to XBMC and then launch the desktop again then it shows Libraries .. but it's OK ... I wanted the first time to go into desktop (or metro - doesn't matter) without any other windows open ...

so .. thank you Angelscry

Do not use the version hosted of official repo but the one hosted on my repo. Use the most recent version of Advanced Launcher.

You will have to manually update your duplicate version of Advanced Launcher, because it does not update automatically. I'm suspecting that your duplicate version is an old version of Advanced Launcher that it is not compatible with Frodo.

As far as remember, number 13 always come after 7. So there is no deprecation, just updates (a lot of updates).

Archives are linked into the first post of this thread, under the explicit name of Archives. You will found there all the Advanced Launcher version from 0.6.2 to 1.13.1.

do you have any documents on how to upgrade?

I dont want to keep buggin ya -

real quick:
Can i just install on top of existing? or do i need to remove old versions etc ...

also after i install new version do i need to re-create all the launchers for my comics? and games? or does that all stay in tact?

Just install my repo and it will update automatically the main instance of Advanced Launcher. Here is instruction from the user guide : http://www.gwenael.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3#p3

It will automatically update. Normally, no need to uninstall.

No you will no need to recreate anything. The only thing you will have to do is to manually update your duplicated instances of Advanced Launcher. For this you will just have to copy/past the content of the xbmc/addons/plugin.program.advanced.launcher folder into the duplicated Advanced Launcher folder and modify/edit the file, like your already done before and following this Youtube tutorial : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gMFJcxdcEg

You can create any instance of Advanced Launcher you want to manage any kind of media (comics, books, videos, music albums, games, applications, personnal scripts, web pages, etc...) you want. There is no limitation.Cool

Have you considered moving your source to GitHub? Its easy enough to migrate, in fact, I've forked your sourceforge repo and uploaded to GitHub for my own ease of access.

GitHub is easier to navigate than SourceForge and has a much better community of Python coders, and a larger group of devs in general, as well as making it easier to handle pull requests, forks, issues, etc, as well as giving more focus on the actual code. Pull Requests are a wonderful thing as they allow other devs to improve your project, and many XBMC addon projects are already hosted on GitHub, including XBMC itself, as you may know.

One example, I've forked your repository to make use of the excellent regex scrapers that you built in my own project. I've made some slight improvements, such as adding a thumbs scraper to the AllGame scraper, which I can easily help you implement, and consolidating the scraper functions into one module, reducing the amount of duplicated code. I'm writing a standalone emulator front-end akin to HyperSpin, and it uses your scrapers, and ones that I'll be writing myself in the near future (for GiantBomb and archive.vg, as well as an XML based alternative to your regex TheGamesDB scraper). I feel that they will be able to improve scraping in Advanced Launcher. Of course, at the moment, everything is Work-In-Progress, and I'd love to merge a pull request if I didn't have to deal with SourceForge.

I got info from here to fork your SourceForge repo and clone it to GitHub. If you'd like to see my work (in-progress), you can see that as well here. At the moment, you can see that I only have your allgame, gamefaqs and thegamesdb scraper working, though.

It's all Git, so you maintain the same workflow. As well, GitHub comes with a fancy client if you use Windows or Mac. Also, if you use PyCharm as your IDE, it comes with better support for GitHub than SourceForge as well.

Since I'm actually the only one who contribute to the code (Advanced Launcher still have some momentary contributors into the past), I did not really take time to consider which software development projects hosting service would be the better. But if some people want to contribute and prefere to use GitHub, I do not see any reason to not move on it.

An AllGame thumb/fanart scraper for Advanced Launcher is useless considering the small size of the images provided by AllGame. A 300px×168px image will never make a good fanart on XBMC. Considering GiantBomb, I hope that they have change their API since the last time I have try to make scraper based on their service. If their database is managed like ComicVine... it will be complicated to make a good scraper from it. Finally concerning archive.vg, its seems that they have finally put their website only. I could take a look and see if it will be possible to create a scraper based on their ressources.

As you are discussing scraper development / improvements: I recently started to work on new game scrapers using heimdall by topfs2 (see here). Heimdall is meant to be used as a library for scraper development in and outside XBMC. I will also try to make the game scrapers as generalized as possible so that they can be used outside RCB (or even XBMC) too. If anybody of you is interested in this project and wants to get something up and running together please let me know (here or per PM). BTW: I won't be able to work on this in the next 3-4 weeks but I hope that I will have some more time after that.

Any chances to include SMB support in the future?

I'm running win 8 and as you might know windows messes up connecting the mapped drives on startup. I know about connecting the drives manually via a bat file, however I favour not to use this way as it would require modifying the file each time I add a new mapped drive
